Historia

Historia
Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

Why The Woke Detours
Revisado: 02-08-21
I’ve loved some of Pollan’s work, but it’s a shame and detriment to his credibility and rational capacity to weave in random jabs at “capitalism” and ideological boogieman-ism with simplistic reductions like “whenever there’s farmers selling to a middle man, you can be sure the later will get rich and the former will be oppressed and poor.”
He can be brilliant and endearing at times, but his going with the Berkeley wind to find a way to weave oppression and capitalism in as the primordial and ever present sin of all white men that must be mentioned and made to relate to every single topic is a sad disappointment.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Through the darkness, rise.
Revisado: 12-12-20
Breathtaking. Nail biting. An odyssey into the depths of misery which is held back only by the sheer might of character and sense of mission and brotherhood of a group of men up against the harshest hardships imaginable. A soaring soul song of humanity.

Historia
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.

Sober journalism that will blow your mind
Revisado: 07-22-18
Powerful. Gripping. Awe inspiring.
Michael Pollan’s serious, studious, yet compassionate attention to the entire ecosystem of history, science, biology and even personal experience of these drugs and therapies is a marvelous gift.
How far common perception has been mislead after reactionary fears in the 60’s should come as no surprise, yet the careful detailing of the science before and since gives the reader a birds eye view of history’s short-sighted myopia.
Michael will change you mind.

Start with WHY, and the rest will follow.
Revisado: 07-13-15
This isn't a quick "how to scrum" guide.
This is a collection of powerfully crafted stories of success and important case studies that underly the importance of each of Scrum's principles.
100% the right place to start if you think you might want to introduce Scrum to a new organization. Learn why first so you're prepared both personally, and as as the scrum evangelist to convince people why it's worth changing their hold habits (yikes!) for new ones that might feel strange at first.
