Very well written and performed. Loved the history, but also heartbroken at the racism of the time…. And that it still exists!

A love story with a mystery
Revisado: 03-16-24
Three wonderful writers telling a beautiful story set in three time periods. I rarely give 5 stars, but I loved this book! In the first few chapters, I kept getting confused with the back and forth of the time periods and the characters in each.I’ve read many books with a past and present story, but never with three. I thought the characters were fleshed out extremely well. Would love a continuation of Kate’s love and life in a sequal!

Dean Koontz imagination at his best.
Revisado: 02-05-24
At times, the wordiness and in-depth descriptions were just too much, as well as taking so much time away from the excitement of the incidents as they happened. But I enjoyed the story and the characters.

I really enjoyed this book. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of the in depth Lillian/ Rose story. I thought it could have been shortened a bit, though the ending explained the necessity of this addition to the story.

Confused and frustrated
Revisado: 09-03-22
I wanted to like this book, but I was beyond frustrated with the timing and spacing of all the audio content. I’ve listened to many books with flashbacks and jumping from one time period to another, but not like this! If there had been chapter distinctions or character headings, I could have followed the story easily and not worked so hard to figure out what was going on. The narrator was good with the inflections in her voice for different characters. So I think the author perceived that disjointed conversations, some left hanging, switching back and forth between characters, no chapter distinctions, made for greater mystery. I think it made for confusion and a 3 star rating instead of 5.

This was one of my favorite books in the series.
I’ve read every other book, but listened to the audio book of How the Light Gets In. I was afraid I’d be distracted if I didn’t like the narration of the book, but thankfully, Ralph Cosham did a great job!

2 narrators needed for this series!
Revisado: 04-18-22
I wish there were 2 narrators. Nina does a good job with the female voices, but the male voices are the downfall of the recording. I can’t get into the story because of this. Overall, it is a good book.
