When you're doing something that's out of the ordinary, your mental programing, your paradigm, will try and stop you. If you want to win, you must keep going. Your paradigms may be masked in complacency, fear, worry, anxiety, insecurities, self-doubt, mental hurry, and self-loathing - the result is keeping you stuck...locked in a box and starved of your dreams and ambitions.

Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

Historia
Come inside a jury room as one juror leads a starkly divided room to consensus. Join a young CIA officer as he recruits a reluctant foreign agent. And sit with an accomplished surgeon as he tries, and fails, to convince yet another cancer patient to opt for the less risky course of treatment. In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg blends deep research and his trademark storytelling skills to show how we can all learn to identify and leverage the hidden layers that lurk beneath every conversation.

Biased :(
Revisado: 04-18-24
First off, I am a big fan of Duhigg, however, he really dropped the ball with this one. For a book about being a "supercommunicator", he fails the very basic tenant of this by failing to consider both sides of an argument when presenting about it. He goes into how people who were vaccine hesitant needed to switch their minds about it and supercommunicators could get them to do this. He fails to even mention the negative side effects we have witnessed, and continue to witness, from these jabs.
Also, to be honest, there is nothing new in this book about being a good communicator.
I have returned this book. Save yourself the credit, unless you are also someone who considers people who did not take the shot "an ant-vaxxer/conspiracy theorist." If you are, you may really enjoy the listen.

Historia
The world’s greatest bodybuilder. The world’s highest-paid movie star. The leader of the world’s sixth-largest economy. That these are the same person sounds like the setup to a joke, but this is no joke. This is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And this did not happen by accident. Arnold’s stratospheric success happened as part of a process. As the result of clear vision, big thinking, hard work, direct communication, resilient problem-solving, open-minded curiosity, and a commitment to giving back. All of it guided by the one lesson Arnold’s father hammered into him above all: be useful.

So needed for so many of us
Revisado: 10-23-23
Arnold is a shining example of what happens when hard word (that is putting it lightly) meets a strong vision and willingness to go for it! I have always loved Arnold but the more I read his work or learn from him, the more I admire him. I loved his narration, as it reminded me of how awesome our era is with technology and how we share wisdom these days. In other words, Arnold reads you his book for the price of a pizza! Don't hesitate, buy this book.

As someone who is getting into writing more and more, this book really helped me see that one of the keys to producing quality work is to deconstruct what has already proven to be successful. Lots of good stories and examples in it that help highlight the main points. Great book!

Famously, over a four-year period, James Dyson made 5,127 prototypes of the cyclonic vacuum cleaner that would transform the way houses are cleaned around the world. In devoting all his resources to iteratively developing the technology, he risked it all, but out of many failures and setbacks came hard-fought success. In Invention: A Life, Dyson reveals how he came to set up his own company and led it to become one of the most inventive technology companies in the world. It is a compelling and dramatic tale, with many obstacles overcome.

Talk about Perseverance!
Revisado: 09-27-22
I am a person who loves reading biographies, as I find that every successful person in life has had to overcome hardships, challenges, and disappointment. Dyson is no exception., His drive to succeed is inspirational and it's cool to hear his story directly from him. I always say the most amazing thing about Audible, is that these incredible people are reading their book to you!
The only negative could be the tendency for him to talk about all the amazing things Dyson is doing now, but hey, if I built this company I would probably want to do the same.

Hilarious and Heartbreaking
Revisado: 09-27-22
I never really knew anything about Trevor Noah but I am so glad I gave this book a try. I love how he narrates it, as the voices he uses for his mother and for the other people in his story are so funny. It's sad how South Africa went about their ways and Noah highlights these inhumane methods of control and oppression. At the end of the story, you can't help but feel so happy for him and what he did with his life, considering what he was given as a starting point.

Revisado: 09-27-22
I had always heard of Quincy Jones but I had never really wanted to learn more about him. That is until I came across this book and took the time to listen to the words of this incredible person! The book is absolutely beaming with nuggets of wisdom and insight that can only be told from a man that has done as much as Jones has. This book is especially great if you are an artist or someone who is exploring that side of them more. It is also an awesome read for someone who is trying to become more by learning more. Overall, this book is a gem!

In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

Wow!
Revisado: 09-27-22
It is insane to think about what people have gone through in their lives and how much we take for granted in our own. This book is something that makes you think about your life and all the blessing you have in it. It also makes your heart ache for people who are born, to no fault of their own, in terrible countries like North Korea. Having lived in Seoul for many years, I felt a sense of sadness for the poverty and oppressive controls that exist just north of a thriving democratic country. Park's storytelling is honest and descriptive but in no way comes across as a sob story. She just wants people to know her journey and how she found her way through it. It's inspiring to say the least.
