decent space opera
Revisado: 04-11-23
Decent story line, however be forewarned the author went out of the way to put faggots and lesbians all over the place. it's disgusting and doesn't add to the story whatsoever. So I wouldn't let any kids listen to this unless you want their minds contaminated by that trash.

Historia
The descendants of a fourth Earth colony ship, Destiny, successfully establish a foothold in unoccupied space. Naiad, the home world, is a frozen ball, but the colonists persevere and expand through wormholes to remote systems. Navigating the time-space anomalies requires Axis-ships. The expensive vessels are constructed by corporations, and remote worlds are claimed by the companies for their valuable ores and gases.

great addition to the Silver Ships series
Revisado: 01-10-23
if you have not listened to or read the Silver Ships and Pyrean series, this is a continuation of that story, a few hundred years later. The SADEs are at odds and this story is about the 4th of 5 colony ships that a dying earth sent out. about 1000-1500 years later our story of gate ghosts happens.
I think Grove Gardner who started narration of this series is way better than Nicole Poole, but it is passable. the story is interesting enough to make up for the narration.
I think if you like the space opera genre you'll enjoy this continuation of the silver ships universe

geared towards a young audience but enjoyable
Revisado: 11-12-22
3rd book in the series. the books are so short it really is 1 book split into 3rds
The story is more geared to a younger audience however I am 45 and I enjoyed it too. I might recommend my kids listen to it, I've had a hard time getting them interested in literature.

Historia
The members of the Polaris Project knew what they were giving up when they volunteered to fly to the star named Angel-21, but the allure of being the first explorers to leave the Solar System far outweighed the risks. As it turned out, the most dangerous thing they faced wasn't the mission, it was the homecoming. Eight hundred years have passed, and Earth is nothing like they thought it would be.

The future is doomed...and Everyone kills everyone
Revisado: 10-31-22
So I enjoyed the story line. A crew shoots off to the future expecting to come back to earth in 1000 years to new marvels. NOPE covid 19 wiped out civilization...lol!
Okay great plot. But one by one everyone murders everyone but the last 2. Adam and Eve so to speak. Well I enjoyed it, but really....did everyone have to get murdered?
Reqding through the other reviews, I'm with everyone else, next time leave out the bad language. Certainly in the future people talk better than they do now.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

humankind at peace, until.......
Revisado: 10-17-22
This is a great space scifi novel. centered around a premise of peace for decades. all of mankind assumed they had grown past the point of war. one of the last war ships doomed to be decommissioned embarked on its final mission. find out why there was a break in communication with an outlying colony.
The captain was perfect for this assignment. the last battleship captain in the last battleship encounters a situation that needs a battleship and an experienced captain of war.
I enjoyed the story and the narration. if you enjoy space novels, I am sure you will love this series

space sci-fi
Revisado: 10-12-22
so a junior officer in training finds himself the only living officer among the command officers on a battleship. with enemies all around and the remainder of his crew counting on the only living officer to see them through to safety.
will he do the RIGHT thing and warn others of what happened to his ship and the senior officers? or will he do the EASY thing and flee to safety?
this novel has a lot of relationships and emotion running high. lots of Dialog building the relationship with the crew and picking up some allies, or enemies along the way. with half the crew dead, can the junior officer in training fill the captions shoes and turn enemies into allies.

Historia
When Mitch Rapp captures ISIS’s top technology expert, he reveals that he was on his way to meet a man who claims to have the ability to bring down America’s power grid. Rapp is determined to eliminate this shadowy figure, but the CIA’s trap fails. The Agency is still trying to determine what went wrong when ISIS operatives help this cyber terrorist do what he said he could — plunge the country into darkness. With no concept of how this unprecedented act was accomplished, the task of getting the power back on could take months. Perhaps even years.

Rapp isn't a murderer, not happy with this story
Revisado: 09-17-21
Mitch is an AMERICAN PATRIOT. when he is fighting the war on terror he is engaged in combat with our sworn enemy. the fundamental religious zealot of Islam has sworn to kill all the members of the great Satan, the US of A. So if he enters a home of a Muslim leader and shoots his guards, he is executing enemy combatants..... but when he is in search of a Russian sleeper agent, he shoots burglars that are scum, but they are American citizens, born and raised. They did attack the Russian-American so they are criminals, but their American citizenship grants them DUE Process.
these are not sworn enemies of America, they are just thugs and bullies with guns. Killing them for no apparent reason other than the fact they were looting his targets apartment is murder not warfare and unacceptable.
I won't even finish this book. I'm disgusted the Author trashed Mitchell Rapp's reputation this way.

alaxy. Humanity was slowly making their way out from Earth to the planets and asteroids of the Solar System, exploring and mining and founding colonies. The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador's telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it's hard to know what to make of it. It's massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

Calssic Orson novel
Revisado: 04-23-17
I read some of the reviews, and it seems there are two camps. One people who love it, two people who hate it. There doesn't seem to be much in between.
Well I think this recording of his book was excellent, the writing was well done. You get to know the characters really well, with awesome character development for the second book. It certainly lead me to the desire to read earth a fire. Just to find out what happens to all of the characters.
If you've been a fan of the enders game series, I think you will really enjoy this book and the others to follow
