Historia
I’m just a girl. And it turns out, I’m Hercules. I’m struggling to survive in a Titan infested world where Spartans, immortals from twelve royal families who have god-like powers and obscene wealth, rule over all. A shy-stammering foster child with nothing, I keep my head down, cover my scars, and focus on excelling in school. At least, I try to. Then it happens.

Not your typical girl TM
Revisado: 04-21-25
I could not finish the book.
The protagonist is pure cliché, "not-your-typical-girl" type, not like the rest, with the new? touch of child abuse and homelessness.
And then the weird mixture of hyper sexual "Sparta" and North American christian values. The bar scene was uncomfortable to follow.
If this is the first book of this kind you read, you might enjoy the novelty. If not, it's another one of "quirky girl has a bunch of way older, bigger, stronger, powerful men going after her", except here she has suicidal thoughs as a "funny" personality trait.
The narrators did a good job, but the moment I recogniced the voices from similar books, I knew it was not for me.

The narrator is the best part by far, GOAT
Revisado: 03-31-25
Disclamer/spoiler: I'm not native speaker, and as such it might be my fault about this, but the book uses a lot of western religion symbolism and concepts in the story; sisterhood, sacraments, etc. So when they said "Ascension" I though it metaphorically. But they meant it literally: Athrium ascended and is a floating city. That makes the whole story make more sense, with all the water shortages and the necessity to maintan the Order, to maintain the Island afloat.
I just didn't understand or get it until much later in the book.
A very dark and strong concept of a worldbuilding, sadly paired with a weak story and characters.
I enjoyed my time because the narrator is simply amazing, the range of voices is superb, one of the best in the platform so far. They change from female to male voices so easily you don't even think is just one person reading to you.
The idea behind the book is interesting, and all the implications of "the end justify the means" and such, but it is also quite problematic in other aspects. Is not as saphicc as it should if heterosexual relations have story-related consequences.
Worth a read, nevertheless.

Feels abridged
Revisado: 03-27-25
First things first, the narration is amazing and the fx and music, if cheesy, helps a lot with the ambience.
But the stories are secundary plots into the Battletech universe, except The Krensky blood one, wich is the first volumen (why only thr first volume?) and all of them feels abridged.
Still, as a fab of Battletech I liked them a lot, and felt wanting for more

The story I expected at first
Revisado: 02-12-25
This was a very nice second book and continuation.
I the first one I did nit like much that they left the city, and this book is why. All the planning and counter planning is great, the characters get depper, even if still using the "manga flashback" as a narrative tool wich I don't like that much.
The story is good even if it goes a bit skew at the end.
Better than the first one for sure.

Revisado: 01-10-25
Definetly not for me.
Too much artificial drama, too much sex.
I did not vibe with the second one and this was not different.
The characters make ridiculous mistakes for the shake of the plot.
The narrators are the best part.

But when a betrayal tears apart Ara, Max and Tisaanah are pushed into an even bloodier conflict. Tisaanah must gamble with Reshaye's power to claim an impossible victory. And Max, forced into leadership, must confront everything he hoped to forget: his past, and his own mysterious magic. All the while, darker forces loom—far darker, even, than the Orders' secrets.

The plot gets muddier
Revisado: 01-04-25
I didn't vibe with this one.
The plot goes hard on drama and I didn't care much.
Part of why is the new third plotline. The "Twist" is so on the nose it annoyed me, I just wanted to progress the main plot.
And when it all comes together, it fell very artificial, drama for the sake of drama.
Tissana can be very stupid when the plot requires her to be.
I don't know I will finish the series after this one.

Painfully cliched
Revisado: 12-22-24
If I tell you about the story it might resemble a thousand others.
But the characters are good and following them is entertanining enough.
Worth a read, if you are not expecting much it might surprise you.
Ps: the male narrator was not necessary in my opinion.

Few caveats, but good
Revisado: 12-18-24
I add myself into the current mayority, the characters are just too young to be, say and do all the things they are, say and do in the story.
Small caveat and easy ignorable.
I was a bit offput because the city plot felt more intriguing than the actual plot, but the characters are enjoyable enough to follow no problem.
Main criticism is that in order to know said characters, the actions is repetedly interrupted via flashback, a narrative device as effective as blunt and uninspired.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book and will continue the story for sure.
Ps: not a huge fan of multicast, but in this case, it works.

Like a Charmed episode
Revisado: 11-27-24
But with one "explicit" sex scene.
Still fun to read, the mistery is the weakest part of the story, but is enjoyable to follow.
The third and last female character takes the lead this time, and the new love interest is basically the same cliché of men as the other two, almost interchangeable.
Nevertheless, I liked it.

She’s also one of Starfall Point’s resident witches, responsible for keeping the local ghost population in check. Change of main protagonist, good continuation from the first book, even if at first I was a bit confused about who was who.
