This brilliant new treatment of the world's oldest epic is a literary event on par with Seamus Heaney's wildly popular Beowulf translation. Esteemed translator and best-selling author Stephen Mitchell energizes a heroic tale so old it predates Homer's Iliad by more than a millennium.

What an wonderful book, and even better explanation by the scholar and author behind the scene. Couldn't ask for a better read, I can't say how much I enjoyed this book.

Historia
“Almost all of the philosophical truths that I have come to know and understand I have learned from Aristotle,” says Mortimer J. Adler. This easy-to-listen-to exposition of Aristotle’s thoughts about nature, human actions, and the conduct of life confirms convictions that most of us hold, though we may not be fully aware of them. This is because Aristotle’s philosophical insights are grounded in the common experience we all possess and because they illuminate the common sense we all rely on.

Must read

This maybe the first or second best book I've ever read. We should teach this book to everyone in high schools everywhere. How to think is the primary problem in society today, and this book would go a long way to solving that problem.

Nailed sheds light on ten beloved Christian myths, and, with evidence gathered from historians across the theological spectrum, shows how they point to a Jesus Christ created solely through allegorical alchemy of hope and imagination; a messiah transformed from a purely literary, theological construct into the familiar figure of Jesus - in short, a purely mythic Christ.

This book is of more literary value than anything Shakespeare wrote or the Bible itself. I loved everything about this book, the research, the rhythm, the questions, but most importantly the answers. I learned so very much, thank you for giving us the tools to put apologist in check.

Historia
Steve Harvey can't count the number of impressive women he's met over the years - the many incredible women who can run a business, have three kids, maintain a household in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. So when it comes to relationships, why can't these same women figure out what makes men commit? According to Steve, it's because they're asking other women for advice when they should be going directly to the source.

Revisado: 03-29-20
I only got this book b/c was very popular in the Black community. This book is exactly as expected it to be, it's filled with sterotypes and jokes, it has little to no substance, and it's completely out of date culturally. This book is what you should expect from a comedian on his third wife, but if you're a child starting to date, maybe a 19yr old girl, this is a start.

Historia
Every day, we hear of relationships failing and questions of whether humans are meant to be monogamous. Love Sense presents new scientific evidence that tells us that humans are meant to mate for life. Dr. Johnson explains that romantic love is an attachment bond, just like that between mother and child, and shows us how to develop our "love sense" - our ability to develop long-lasting relationships. Love is not the least bit illogical or random, but actually an ordered and wise recipe for survival.

Too fantastical
Revisado: 01-28-20
I was looking for a relationship book written by a women as research for a book I'm writing, which lead me to this book. I was excited to get into it because it promised a "scientific perspective", but in the end it was all about the author's hoped and dreams for love in an overly romantic way. Love is subjective, not objective, romance and empathy will not solve all the world's problems. I find her opinions to be outdated and old fashioned, which will not help people in relationships today, as much as it should. I do appreciate all the research put into this book, but I think it's unfair to market this as a scientific book, when it's mostly conjecture unrelated to the reference material. I'm even more motivated to write my book.

Historia
In his classic guide to understanding the opposite sex, Dr. John Gray provides a practical and proven way for men and women to improve their communication and relationships by acknowledging the differences between them. Once upon a time Martians and Venusians met, fell in love, and had happy relationships together because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came to Earth and amnesia set in: They forgot they were from different planets.

Best to date
Revisado: 12-27-19
First I have to say that this book is a bit outdated, it seems to be written for the Great-generation or the Baby-boomer. Today generations Next, Millennials, and Generation Y do not conduct their relationship in the ways the examples in the book do. Men may still be from Mars, but today's Martians are very different. That begging said, this book is a MUST read, and by my account it is the very best book on relationships currently written. I hope you'll consider writing an updated version.

Built To Last, the defining management study of the 90s, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the very beginning. But what about companies that are not born with great DNA? How can good companies, mediocre companies, even bad companies achieve enduring greatness?

Revisado: 11-30-19
Good book, great concepts, well written. though none of these love languages are primarily for me. Nonetheless I learned important lessons about life, love, and humans. Thank you. Could do without all the untruthful references to Jesus. Luke didn't write the Bible story, and whoever wrote it likely never even met Jesus, if Jesus even excited.

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

When I started to research exactly what an atheist was, the late, great Christopher Hitchens name came up constantly. I watched a debate of his, on the topic of this very book years ago, but it can't compare with finally reading this book. Shakespeare and other literature is obsolete in this day and age, but EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING ON EARTH should read this book.

Think and Grow Rich is the number-one inspirational and motivational classic for individuals who are interested in furthering their lives and reaching their goals by learning from important figures in history. The text read in this audiobook is the original 1937 edition written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by Andrew Carnegie - and while it has often been reproduced, no updated version has ever been able to compete with the original.

Obsolete
Revisado: 07-04-19
This is a truly terrible book, by far the worst book that I've listening to it my life. I don't like contradictions and this book maybe the only book with more contradictions than the Bible. Whatever few bits of wisdom that are in this book, are covered by a mountain of garbage and irrational concepts from generations ago. This book should only be given away for free, or studied as an example of what NOT to write in this day and time.
