Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Historia
Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. David's mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn't protect him.

Historia
Drawing on secret police files, Marilyn Monroe's private diary, and never before published first-hand testimony, this book proves that Robert Kennedy was directly responsible for her death. It details the legendary star's tumultuous personal involvement with him and his brother, President John Kennedy, and how they sought to silence her. The new evidence and testimony is provided by Mike Rothmiller who, as a detective of the Organized Crime Intelligence Division of the LAPD, had direct access to hundreds of secret files on exactly what happened at Monroe's home on August 5, 1962.

Historia
Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment is universally regarded as one of literature's finest achievements, as the great Russian novelist explores the inner workings of a troubled intellectual. Raskolnikov, a nihilistic young man in the midst of a spiritual crisis, makes the fateful decision to murder a cruel pawnbroker, justifying his actions by relying on science and reason, and creating his own morality system. Dehumanized yet sympathetic, exhausted yet hopeful, Raskolnikov represents the best and worst elements of modern intellectualism. The aftermath of his crime and Petrovich's murder investigation result in an utterly compelling, truly unforgettable cat-and-mouse game. This stunning dramatization of Dostoevsky's magnum opus brings the slums of St. Petersburg and the demons of Raskolnikov's tortured mind vividly to life.

Horrible choice of narrator
Revisado: 11-27-24
It would have been a much better listen if the narrator did not have a British accent. It didn’t make much sense especially when quoting characters in book. How can you be acting like a tough gang member in Aaron’s clique with that accent? Should have been someone with a northern American accent

Historia
Unrelenting winds, carnivorous polar bears, snake nests, sweltering heat, and constant hunger. Paddling from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay, following the 2,000-mile route made famous by Eric Sevareid in his 1935 classic Canoeing with the Cree, Natalie Warren and Ann Raiho faced unexpected trials, some harrowing, some simply odd. Warren's spellbinding account retraces the women's journey from inspiration to Arctic waters, giving listeners an insider view of planning a three-month canoe expedition to the successful accomplishment of the adventure of a lifetime.

I can’t give a full review because I really wanted to listen to this book! It sounded so interesting. Unfortunately I could not get past the authors voice. It felt like I was listening to a hyper teenager. Maybe you will disagree and get to hear the book. I just couldn’t.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Good Story
Revisado: 06-16-23
Being from Chicago, and living most of my life near the area mentioned in this book, I found it very interesting. I found the it annoying with mispronounced street names and school names. While some were easily made mistakes (Throop St. is pronounced Troop not THRoop) and unless you’re from Chicago, most would make that mistake. But I think we all know Illinois has a silent S 🙄.
I also feel as tho, the book left the story toward the end to talk about all the corruption in Chicago w the police. Again, living here, I know this, and found it interesting. Yet I’m not sure others would agree.
None the less, Lamantia died a few years back. The neighborhood acted like a King died 🙄

Half an hour later, the girls returned alone, claiming that Pauline’s mother had had an accident. Strange story
Revisado: 05-11-23
I found the story to really drag on. I felt there was more about fantasy stories the girls created than the actual story. Very confusing.
The narrator sounded like a robot. He. Spoke. As. If. There. Was. A. Period. After. Every. Word.
Coincidentally, I started listening the same day Anne Perry died. 😳 April 2023.
Good story made boring.
