Historia
Ray Lewis, legendary Baltimore Ravens linebacker and one of the greatest defensive players of his generation, holds nothing back on the state of football as well as his troubled childhood, his rise to athletic greatness, the storm that threatened to ruin his NFL career, and the devastating injury that nearly cost him a final moment of glory.

Promise Kept!
Revisado: 01-19-25
Baby Ray’s story of poverty, pain, perseverance, performance and God’s mercy inspires me although I’m not an athlete. As a mother of two sons and a woman trying to make her mark I was moved to tears and prays at five different points in Ray’s retelling of his childhood struggles and his expedience with the justice system. Most of all, I am reminded to keep God first in my life. Thanks Ray Lewis for your sacrifice.

Historia
In his own words, the heavyweight champion of the world pulls no punches as he chronicles the battles he faced in and out of the ring in this fascinating memoir edited by Nobel Prize-winning novelist, Toni Morrison. Growing up in the South, surrounded by racial bigotry and discrimination, Ali fought not just for a living, but also for respect and rewards far more precious than money or glory. He was named Sportsman of the Century by Sports Illustrated and the BBC.

I found a new hero!
Revisado: 12-05-23
Muhammad Ali’s story is complex- scary, inspiring, funny, entertaining and relatable. He clearly had a purpose in life, which he embraced while pursuing his dream of being the greatest boxer in the world. Ali’s storytelling made me feel as though I was in the room/ring/cell with him. I honor Mr. Ali for lifting up black people around the world.

Historia
Sophia Chang is a badass of the music industry. As the daughter of Korean immigrants in predominantly white suburban Vancouver, she grew up shunning the “model minority” myth. Armed with a fierce sense of independence, she moved to New York City and infiltrated the world of hip-hop, yet remained mostly in the shadows of the artists she supported. With her debut memoir, Sophia Chang is finally ready to grab the mic for herself.

Relevant and Relatable
Revisado: 10-26-19
I was hooked by the title and cover of the book. What followed was powerful storytelling that moved me in many ways. At points I laughed, cried and even
used my dictionary. I really like Chang’s relationship with Chris, especially in the days before he died. Chang’s honesty and desire to claim her place in the world was not lost on me. Anyone who is in transition and needs inspiration should read Sophia Chang’s book.

Careful FLOTUS
Revisado: 11-21-18
I especially enjoyed the early stories about the First Lady's life and her heart felt narration in Chapter 17. I know that Mrs. Obama has to be careful, but having witnessed (from the outside) all of the major events discussed in the latter part of the book, I would have appreciated a more revealing story in Becoming.
