This is the story of an angst-filled kid from the desert, navigating the chaos of his parents' bitter divorce and searching for his place in the world. Each move across the country was a chance to reinvent himself, switching identities from dork to goth to skate punk, and eventually meeting his best friend who just so happens to be his musical soulmate.

The narrator really seemed to struggle with capturing Mark's personality. 😉 Just jokes. the book was great and it was especially good to hear Mark read it. some people have said that this book is not deep enough but I disagree. I think Mark offered a lot of honesty and insight into who he is. If you are a blink fan, rock fan, or just like good memoirs, this book is fantastic.

Historia
The families behind America’s astronaut heroes are just like yours...sort of. This is the hilarious true story of one of those families. While many children grow up wanting to become an astronaut, Patrick Mullane grew up the child of one. In his memoir, The Father, Son, and Holy Shuttle: Growing Up an Astronaut’s Kid in the Glorious 80s, Mullane shares his hilarious coming-of-age story. It’s a story about his quirky and death-defying father, a mother with a secret, and a cast of characters from his extended family who showed their love for him in often bizarre ways.

An 80s Space Coming of Age Masterpiece
Revisado: 07-24-23
I found this book because of Riding Rockets. That book offers a shockingly frank and intimately honest view into the lives of the shuttle astronauts. Patrick Mullane offers the same frankness and intimate honesty in his memoir about teenage life in the United States. Although my father was not an astronaut, I still identified with so much of this book.
I found myself regularly laughing out loud and also cringing with embarrassment. And I shed a few tears at the end when he sweetly and delicately talked about one of his mother's tragedies.
Ultimately this is a book about family love and the love described your end is both inspirational and aspirational. I'm grateful that it exists and that I had a chance to listen to it. Thank you, Mr. Mullane!

Historia
From the internationally bestselling author of No god but God comes a fascinating, provocative, and meticulously researched biography that challenges long-held assumptions about the man we know as Jesus of Nazareth. Sifting through centuries of mythmaking, Reza Aslan sheds new light on one of history's most influential and enigmatic characters by examining Jesus through the lens of the tumultuous era in which he lived: first-century Palestine, an age awash in apocalyptic fervor.

Reza offers a fresh and entertaining look at the real Jesus. He equally skilled as a writer and a narrator. As someone who has been bored to tears by the New testament, I rather wish Reza had been there at the time because his book is anything but boring.

The master of exploration delivers again
Revisado: 08-14-21
I was 6 years old when Bob Ballard found the Titanic and I thought he was the coolest person on the planet. Now I'm 42 and find him even cooler because he now lets us know just how human and riddle he is in his autobiography.
This was one of those books that I finished in a few days. I put it on anytime I had a spare moment.
Scott Brick is it good narrator and has a great voice. however, there are a few times that his pauses and inflection made some poignant parts seem saccharine. But overall he did a great job and it seemed like Bob himself was narrating it.

It is a gift to see the world through Jim's eyes
Revisado: 06-23-21
I loved Navajos wear Nikes and was a little worried about whether I would enjoy Jim's adult life as much as I had enjoyed his stories of adolescence. I feel a little foolish that I had entertained that thought because he took that same wide-eyed spiritual inquisitiveness from his youth into adulthood.
This book is so beautifully written that I found myself in tears numerous times. For me personally, I believe his story about the yearling and how he wrote that chapter is absolute literary art that is as fine if not finer than anything anyone has written.
I laugh, I cried, and I learned so much more about life and the world around me.
Thank you, Jim. Thank you more than I can ever properly convey.

America’s most decorated warship of World War II, Enterprise was constantly engaged against the Japanese Empire, earning the title “the fightingest ship” in the navy. Her career was eventful, vital, and short. Commissioned in 1938, her bombers sank a submarine just ten days after the Pearl Harbor attack, claiming the first Japanese vessel lost in the war.

Historia
Bismarck entered service in the summer of 1940. She was well-armed, with eight 15-inch guns as well as a powerful array of lighter weapons, while her armored protection earned her the reputation of being unsinkable. This claim was finally put to the test in May 1941, when she sortied into the Atlantic and fought the legendary battle of the Denmark Strait, destroying HMS Hood, the pride of the Royal Navy. Bismarck was now loose in the North Atlantic.

Compelling and well researched
Revisado: 04-05-21
This is the third book I've read about the Bismarck and I think it is probably the best. It is very well researched and the author writes in a compelling style that retained my interest throughout even though I was quite aware of the events. The narrator does a very fine job and I think it adds quite a bit to the story that he is British.
The author includes many personal stories from people who were on or around the Bismarck, which gives a great sense of what life was like on capital ships and what sailors thought and felt.
Even if you have read other books about the Bismarck and even if you think you know the story well, I believe this book is a very worthwhile read. Personally, I am more interested in HMS Hood, and while I would always wish there would be more about that glorious ship, I feel the author did a good job giving reasonable detail about the Hood, while not allowing it to overshadow the most important ship when writing about the Bismarck.

Revisado: 02-28-21
Very well written and quite interesting. it is British focused but still provides good information about other nation's submarine history. Most books I've read before about submarine history mostly covers the United States, Russia, and Germany, So it was actually a very nice to find out a lot more information about Great Britain's submarines.
