Historia
In CIA Rogues and the Killing of the Kennedys, Patrick Nolan fearlessly investigates the CIA’s involvement in the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy - why the brothers needed to die and how rogue intelligence agents orchestrated history’s most infamous conspiracy. Nolan furthers the research of leading scholars who agree that there remain serious unanswered questions regarding the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.

Awful Performance
Revisado: 06-23-22
What an awful narration. The reader sounds like an automated weather service. He can’t pronounce words and sounds so generic that it almost sounds unnatural.

It’s 1927, and 18-year-old Mary Engle is hired to work as a secretary at a remote but scenic institution for mentally disabled women called the Nettleton State Village for Feebleminded Women of Childbearing Age. Soon after she’s hired, Mary learns that a girl from her childhood orphanage is one of the inmates. Mary remembers Lillian as a beautiful free spirit with a sometimes-tempestuous side. Could she be mentally disabled? When Lillian begs Mary to help her escape, Mary is faced with a terrible choice.

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-21-22
A story that drags on and on, and then abruptly ends without any fizzle.
A great performance by the narrator is wasted on a story that is nothing special.

A great story about more than baseball.
Revisado: 06-09-22
What a find! This book is about a lot more than baseball, and I enjoyed every second of it.
I found myself interacting with the story throughout and I think that is the highest complement I could give.
Would highly recommend.

Historia
Seabiscuit was one of the most electrifying and popular attractions in sports history and the single biggest newsmaker in the world in 1938, receiving more coverage than FDR, Hitler, or Mussolini. But his success was a surprise to the racing establishment, which had written off the crooked-legged racehorse with the sad tail.

Awful narration
Revisado: 06-01-22
Why do audiobook companies decide to have civil war classics narrated by individuals who have such a difficult time reading antebellum accounts in normal voices.
This is a fascinating story that is ruined by the narrator’s attempt to sound like a “southern gentleman.” In the process, he mispronounces nearly every other word/name, and draws out his words that it makes this an unlistenable story.
A shame, really.

Historia
In the early 18th century, the Pirate Republic was home to some of the great pirate captains, including Blackbeard, "Black Sam" Bellamy, and Charles Vane. Along with their fellow pirates - former sailors, indentured servants, and runaway slaves - this "Flying Gang" established a crude but distinctive democracy in the Bahamas, carving out their own zone of freedom in which servants were free, Blacks could be equal citizens, and leaders were chosen or deposed by a vote.

Holy crap this narrator is awful
Revisado: 04-19-22
I’m spending 50% of the my time listening to this book trying to figure out why the narrator emphasizes each word like the entire story hinges on it.
Seriously, it’s awful.

One man’s journey. Nothing more.
Revisado: 04-02-22
There were several times where I found myself nodding my head in agreement, and there were several more times where I found myself shaking my head in complete disagreement.
His criticism of AA reeks of jealousy. He criticizes step one because he doesn’t agree he’s “powerless” over alcohol. But in the chapter prior, he says he couldn’t have “just one” drink because that would lead to more drinking in the days ahead. Sounds kind of powerless, right?
Also, he casually mentioned still taking drugs…which really alarmed me.
I’m glad his journey has been successful for him. But I wouldn’t put anything more into it.

Narrator kills a great book
Revisado: 02-28-22
This book is a treasure trove of interesting stories from the Civil War, but the narrator ruins it. It is clear that this book is a collection of memories—that do not always “lead” to the next memory—but the narrator tries to read as if all the memories are connected. The end result is a confusing narration that leads you wondering what on earth you’re listening to.

Warren St. John decided to find out why people care so much about the outcomes of games they're not playing in by joining a group where the particulars of the fan psyche would show themselves in sharp relief: the caravan of hundreds of RVs that follow the Alabama Crimson Tide across the South, taking over college towns with a moveable feast of Weber grills, karaoke machines, Igloo coolers, and fast-draining liquor bottles.

Great story with a lot of humor. As an Alabama alum and fanatic, this hit home.
My only complaint is that there are frequent mispronunciations and misstatements.
