Historia
When Walt Whitman self-published "Leaves of Grass" in 1855, he rocked the literary world and forever changed the course of poetry. In subsequent editions, Whitman continued to revise and expand his poems - but none matched the raw power and immediacy of the first edition. This volume presents the 1855 "Leaves of Grass" in its entirety, unchanged, along with Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous letter to Whitman.

A true American Classic!
Revisado: 02-02-25
It’s Walt Whitman. Need I say more? Tried and true American Classic. Read by Presidents and eloquent summary for the ages!
The only thing changeable; in my honest opinion, is the speed by which the narrator reads. I found this book more enjoyable at half the speed!

Historia
Bonnie and Clyde - we've been on a first name basis with them for almost a hundred years. Immortalized in movies, songs, and pop culture references, they are remembered mostly for their storied romance and tragic deaths. But what was life really like for Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker in the early 1930s? How did two dirt-poor teens from West Texas morph from vicious outlaws to legendary couple? And why? Award-winning author Karen Blumenthal devoted months to tracing the footsteps of Bonnie and Clyde, unearthing new information and debunking many persistent myths.

Great Book
Revisado: 11-17-21
I enjoyed the perspectives from different sources which I never heard elsewhere. I also enjoyed the tone and flow of the narrators voice. However, it would have been perfect if music from that period and/or other audio clips (how automobiles sounded at that time, etc) were included. That is the only reason why I do not give the performance 5 stars. Very nice book!

Who am I? Who were these people who made me who I am? And, what was this place? Was it ever what I thought it was? For celebrated journalist and author Julie Salamon, these recently became central questions. Salamon spent the first 18 years of her life Seaman, Ohio, a town that is part of the American heartland, a repository of mythology and misunderstanding.

Growing up in a rural small town is refreshing!
Revisado: 07-05-21
Some of these stories remind me of stories that I heard from my parents and grandparents about their time spent growing up in a rural, small town. Everyone in my family from that time has passed, so I don’t get the pleasure of hearing their stories anymore, but this sounds exactly like one they would have told! What a gem this is! Thanks, Audible!

Historia
Speaking from the cultural viewpoint of the Lakota of the northern Plains, the author discusses the evolution of native cultures to fit within the environment and adapt to it, as opposed to changing it drastically or wholesale to fit human needs and comforts. He suggests that changing our contemporary thinking in relating to the earth in a less harmful way does not mean a drastic change in lifestyles....

I never in a million years expected this book to resonate so much with me, but I am certainly glad it did. I think there is more than a few ladies still struggling to make sense of their life, that would benefit by reading this. Sometimes we need to follow the river back to where we’re from. ❤️

Stellar book for anyone wanting to delve into the vastness of our universe
Revisado: 01-13-20
I would have given this book 5 stars on all categories, however I was disappointed that Neil deGrasse Tyson didn’t narrate more of it. That was pretty annoying. However, once I suppressed that disappointment and really listened to the content, I was thoroughly grateful I chose this book to add to my library. I have a business degree and work in accounting, but the contents of this book were not only vastly thorough, but also easy to follow along with. I found myself in complete awe several times throughout the book. One does not to be a rocket scientist or even have a scientific background to be able to comprehend the basic fundamentals of the universe nor the language of this book. The reader can easily choose the depth he or she wishes to understand the book. I absolutely love the fact that there is a pdf add-on that comes free with the purchase of the book. With the add-on material, it could easily become a somewhat complete lesson intro into quantum physics. Again, the reader can decide how deep they wish to dig into the contents, but everything is there. The reader has the ability to decide how much information to take away from this audio-book. I look forward to buying more Tyson books, and now have my eye on Carl Sagan as well! Our universe is so vast that no man (or woman) will ever learn everything there is to know about it. That, for me, is the coolest part: anything, everything, and nothing at all is possible. What a beautiful place to live!
