Don’t bother
Revisado: 01-04-25
The performance was strong and I love a full cast with sound effects, but this story took a weird turn. Spoiler alert, it’s about aliens. I hate sci fi and there seemed to be no indication in the description that that’s what it was about. And then it just ends abruptly without any resolution. Waste of time.

Historia
Siobhán O'Sullivan's hopes for a quiet Irish Christmas are dashed when the local Santa turns up dead in a carnival dunk tank of hot cocoa. Now, instead of hunting down holiday gifts, she's pursuing a heartless killer. Seems the dead Santa was no angel either, stealing neighborhood dogs to guide his sleigh. But was it his holiday antics - or worse - that led to his death by chocolate?

Lame story, annoying narration
Revisado: 12-04-23
Seriously. The Irish tropes and American narrator. Not a good one. Don’t bother. I’d expect better from audible.

Historia
Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all.

Must read for all of us
Revisado: 10-04-23
This book is incredible. Engaging, fascinating and an incredible narrative framing the history, sociology and economy of our country. Heather McGee came to our community to speak and I was enraptured by her storytelling that weaves anecdotes, salient facts and explanations that bring the systemic and endemic challenges that we face in this country into clearer focus. She also provides straight forward solutions that are feasible and reasonable if only we could muster the will to put aside our implicit biases and do the work.

Historia
Lucy used to handle her adult romantic life according to the script she’d been handed. She met a guy just like herself: same age, same background, same hopes and dreams; they got married and started a family. Too bad he made her miserable. Now, two decades later, she’s a nearly divorced, forty-one-year-old schoolteacher with two school-aged sons, and there is no script anymore. So when she meets Joseph, she isn’t exactly looking for love—she’s more in the market for a babysitter.

And this book is a winner. Topical, funny, engaging, beautifully mastered for audio. Love, love, love.
