It’s what it is, varied survival elements and gay. Solid performance. Strong MCs. And thank goodness it’s not a “one is hero, one is victim trope” or else I’d be grumpy.
Nicely paced burn without dragging it out too long. Disability rep!

Strange

It had an air of strangeness and unease. I enjoyed it and would listen again. That being said I did feel like some of the family history/connections weren’t explained well at the end and the climax was abrupt. Those things left the story somewhat incomplete for me. Also I’d love to see the authors visual interpretation of this God.

I felt emotionally caught up in this story. It was quite well done, awesome narration and passionate positions. I would say the climax was predictable but not in a bad way. I’m glad good things happened for our characters after so much suffering, that’s a change of pace. Hope is alive.
I did roll my eyes every time the author used the word VAST though. So many things were vast. Vast. Vaaaasstttt.
But I loved the world and characters.

Panties

Isn’t quite the word I wanna hear during a “romantic” sexual build up that started with the main character clearly saying No to being touched.
It almost felt like the internal narrative storyline made it “acceptable” for gross behavior because we the reader know what they both are thinking but really it just made me stop listening.
The overall vocab wasn’t good and a repetition of certain words became redundant fast.

The narrator grew on me. The character potentials were interesting. I enjoyed it all and felt a solid sense of completion at the end.

It was fire. I’d love more, More story, more plot beyond the town. But I enjoyed the main character’s thinking and viewpoint a lot. And it’s gay.

A good snack of a book. I also wish it had been longer, but sometimes a quick resolution is better than having to wait forever for sequel. I enjoyed the honesty of the characters thoughts. The narrator used tone in odd ways sometimes though.
