Sad follow up.
Revisado: 03-07-21
Wil Wheaton made this tolerable, but the writing was just lazy and predictable. The great 80s references which were part of the first book become an agonizing gimmick in the second. Way too much obscure detail which seems to be there to fill pages. The plot had real potential. would not recommend if you loved the first book.

Tough getting to the end.
Revisado: 02-26-21
This book start slow, really slow. maybe chapter 18 till things pick up. The story is OK with reasonable character development.
The killer for me was try the narrator for Ona Susan. Not clear what the reader was going for but it's almost intolerable to listen to.its gets somewhat better later in the book, it's the worst I've ever heard.

This is a Tier One Book
Revisado: 01-17-19
I got this book during a two for one deal and was worried about picking up a series on the third book in. I am happy to say that the missing backstory did not impede my reading of the book and will likely pick up the first two. One problem i have with this book is the exhausting use of the words Tier One. OMG, by the third book in I think we get it. I understand the Series is titled Tier One, do we need to be reminded every third page. Try playing a drinking game and take a drink every time you hear Tier One. If you are still coherent by the end of Chapter 2, you are a Tier One Operator. I think this book could be a 5 star for sure, but this constant reminder that these characters used to be Tier One Operators is at first just annoying buck quickly moves to a Tier One PIA. And if your still reading this review, Tier One to you.

Historia
The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

A great idea for a story. This could have been a very long series and still may be but I thought the author did a great job in the three book series
A great escape.

I am a big fan of this other and find this to be an interesting alternative to his typical books addition of a Mickey Spillane type mystery with science fiction is a great story

There are plenty of mercenaries, spies, and guns for hire in the galaxy. But probably none as dangerous and determined as Bazine Netal. Now it’s her turn to be the teacher—even if schooling an eager but inexperienced recruit in the tricks of her trade is the last thing she wants to do. Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Worth a Second Chance on the next one.
Revisado: 12-01-15
What did you love best about Power Down?
I thought this was a well written and enjoyable read. As I say in my comments below, Mr. Coes needs to do some more homework on weapons, ballistics and tactics, but the book was good enough to make me want to buy the next one and give it a try.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Mr.Coes needs to do some more homework on weapons and the world of terminal ballistics. I understand this is fiction with a somewhat larger than life hero. However, the author seems to have just grabbed the firearms bible and started rattling off every weapon type he could find. State Troopers Carrying M-60s and "cocking" a Glock are just clearly the writing of someone who does not know firearms. Mr. Coes should sit down and understand the impact difference between a 45 ACP from a 1911 and a 7.62 delivered from an AK, just things that authors like Vince Flynn and Brad Thor realized they should understand to better write these types of books. Finally I hope Mr. Coes gets the chance to spend some time with the Spec Ops community to understand how they work. I do not want to give away any of the story but parts of this book throw out Ranger and Delta training to simply hype up the action. Was surprised to hear Mr. Coes interview at the end where he talks about how he strove for accuracy, he needs to strive a little harder.
Did Peter Hermann do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I thought he did a good job on the whole but his deliver is over the top clenched teeth, Mr. Hermann must have had sore jaws at the end of each day after this performance. I think the story would listen better if he would just ease up a bit on the way he delivers Dewey's lines.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I actually came pretty close and did it in two. Despite my comments above I did like this book.

I really enjoy this author. I find his books to be a bit of a work to get into but then the story really takes off and you never want it to end. I highly reccommend.
