Did I miss something
Revisado: 01-27-25
I don't want to give any spoilers. Just feels like the mystery wasn't fully solved. I enjoyed the listen. Recipes at the end are a nice addition but would prefer having the paperback for that.

Performance was the best I've ever heard!
Revisado: 01-21-25
The storytelling in this book was so good. I didn't want to "put the book down". Even though this book was fiction, I know the awful things that happened in this book was not made up. My mom grew up during this time and affirmed much of what happened in this book. The emotions this book evoked were strong and intense. I think if a book can make you sad, happy, excited, hopeful, and form pictures in your mind, then it's a good book. I really wish the author could have written more books. It's definitely our loss that she didn't. The narrator was absolutely phenomenal! I could ascertain each character when the dialog changed.

Great short story
Revisado: 12-09-24
This is a good audio book to start out with if this is your first time listening to an audio book. I would loved to have more to the story. Is there a full version of the book? Not sure but the short story was nice.

Outstanding voice over
Revisado: 12-03-24
This is probably the best voice over talent I have ever heard. He brought the book alive and I was able to see a movie in my mind as I listened. Easy Rawlings character is complex and Mosley is able to capture the complexities and essence of the character.

Revisado: 11-19-24
I enjoyed this book. Socrates's character was complex and made you question what is really right and what is really bad. I would have liked to find out what happened to Darryl.

Revisado: 08-10-18
I liked the book. I will be listening to this again. I got a little lost making the connection with King and all of his cases. Overall, it had just the right amount of mystery, love, and drama.

Lisette is always magnificent. Alexander stays true to his style. The story provided a little more depth than previous stories. More real life circumstances than wishful thinking.

Easy is getting old but doesn't show many signs of slowing down. He thinks expanding the business will give him more free time. I am excited to see if it really does in the next book.

Good Book but Something is Missing
Revisado: 06-06-17
This book is good but I felt it lacks the excitement and appeal of the earlier books in this series. I felt the writing was slightly different as far as how the mystery unravels. There were too many moving parts.

Taken to another place and time
Revisado: 03-27-11
This book is fantastic! The reader was very talented and I could always tell what character was talking. The way the reader read made me think that I was there in the book, watching the characters as a casual observer. The book explores the complexity of love and a woman's struggle to love her way. After I read the book, I watched the movie. It stayed close to the book but changed a few details that I think were important in the book. It explored color and class within the African-American community.
