Captivating from start to finish, this book truly kept me hooked from the very first page. I couldn't put it down, and once I did, I found myself thinking about the characters long after I had finished reading. The depth of their emotions and the intricacies of their lives stayed with me, a testament to the author’s incredible storytelling.
Chris Whitacker has a remarkable ability to craft characters that feel real and relatable. His writing style reminds me of Kristin Hannah, whose work I also adore. Both authors share a talent for creating vivid, multi-dimensional characters who linger in your mind long after the story is over.
This is also a book that breaks your heart in the most beautiful way. The emotional weight it carries is profound, and by the end, you’ll find yourself both devastated and grateful for the journey. I almost didn’t read this because of the reviews. So glad I followed my gut. Fredrik Backman doesn’t disappoint. Character development weaves its way through the story in a way that makes you love them all. Zara is my fave.
Narration is spot on.

Difficult yet perfect

I agree with so many of the reviews. The narration was soothing, and kept me listening even when it was difficult to understand or difficult to hear. My heart broke - the ending left me wanting more. I could listen to Ms Chilton read all day long.

It was a struggle to listen. I liked idea behind the story, but I couldn’t stand the husband. Made it hard to listen to. The ending was unpredictable which is why I gave it a 3 and not a 2.

If you enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing - you will love this. Start to finish this was a wonderful story. The characters are so well developed and ending leaves you wanting more. More of the characters. Rumour has it they may turn this into a Netflix show or movie. YES PLEASE!
