Poor content
Revisado: 08-04-23
Even with the effort of the author to keep it short and to the point, the book is too long for the content. He does a good job with the performance though.

Great structure and examples. A bit rosy.
Revisado: 07-13-19
It’s a good book to have a general overview of what has to be done in a turnaround and explains the steps with a good structure and methodology. My only dislike is that the story turns a bit too rosy and everyone lives happily ever after, which is hard to believe for a real life business situation.

Historia
In September 1960, John Steinbeck and his poodle, Charley, embarked on a journey across America, from small towns to growing cities to glorious wilderness oases. Travels with Charley is animated by Steinbeck’s attention to the specific details of the natural world and his sense of how the lives of people are intimately connected to the rhythms of nature—to weather, geography, the cycles of the seasons. His keen ear for the transactions among people is evident, too, as he records the interests and obsessions that preoccupy the Americans he encounters along the way.

Enjoyable listening
Revisado: 05-14-19
As a foreigner, it gave me a enjoyable point of view of how the USA was and still is. Very enjoyable listening while in the road. A little nostalgic, it’s insightful and sometimes amusingly but respectfully archetypical.
John always keeps a refined and correct language, however is Interesting the number of things said that under today’s eyes are politically incorrect but back in 1960s were normal.

No flow in the reading. Exhausting listening
Revisado: 05-20-18
The performance of the narrator is not good. He reads the book as a shopping list, there is no flow nor narrative. Each sentence sounds isolated of the previous, gives the impression that the recording was done sentence by sentence.
Every phases is read in high emphasis tone. This makes the listening stressful and exhausting. I had a hard time to listen, and quit.
I understand the content of the book is good. I will give it another try, but not in audible version.

The Ignatian goal of "finding God in all things" eans that every part of our lives can lead us to God. The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything shows us how this is possible, with user-friendly examples, humorous stories and anecdotes from the heroic and inspiring lives of Jesuit saints and average priests and brothers, as well as examples from Martin's twenty years as a Jesuit. The traditional wisdom that Jesuits use to help other people in their daily lives is easily applied, but not often explained well to the general public.

Highly recommended, not a Catholics book only
Revisado: 03-03-13
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This is not a book for one sitting because it has a lot of point to think about and reflect on. Its better to take it little by little.
Any additional comments?
In the whole, the book shows you how to watch thing from other point of view, in a way that makes you grow as a person and realize what is really important in life. The points are very simple and well founded, but sometimes not that easy to follow.
It is very remarcable how J. Martin reinforces his points not only on catholic belives, but also in other christian, buddhist and muslim believes.
The examples of people he uses makes you want to read several other books and biografies (I have done it already).

Jack Welch's vision is overwelming
Revisado: 03-03-13
Would you listen to Jack again? Why?
I would like to read it again the next decade. After 10 years of work experience Im sure it will bring a different view of a bussines.
What did you like best about this story?
The best part of the audio version is how Mike transmits the passion for the bussines that Jack Welch surely had. In several parts the book gets hard to follow because he is so exited telling what happened in certain meeting or in certain problem that he speeds up the story. But at the same time, is so contagious that makes you want to become the next GE's CEO

Better to have the book
Revisado: 03-03-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is not a book, is a conferece J. Maxwell gave, based on his book "Winning with people".
I recommend to read (or listen) the book, because this speach is a cut off version of the other book (with 25 ways to win this people).
If you’ve listened to books by John C. Maxwell before, how does this one compare?
I have listened several audiobook from J. Maxwell, when possible I recommend to listen to the books read by himself. He has the clear idea on where does emphasis is needed and where passion needs to be put on.

Very well reasoned and contagiuos, with big bias
Revisado: 03-03-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The preaches are very nicely achived, and very well founded. The narrative and the passion of Rick is contagious. But I didn't like that at certain point of the book, little by little, it hints that the purpose of everyone's life is to live in the church, by the church and for the church. The book doesn't show a way to find your purpose, it tries to convince you that everyone 's purpose is the church.
Did The Purpose Driven Life inspire you to do anything?
The book inspires to take action and fix several flaws you may have in your path for a more spiritual christian life.
