Historia
Traveling faster than light, the transport ship Redundancy is cut off from communication as effectively as an ancient ocean liner. The isolation suits crew member Ace Vance just fine—she’s got nowhere else to be. But when a wealthy passenger turns up dead during a routine voyage, Ace will have to connect with the passengers and crew to uncover the truth. Tragedy will strike again—it’s only a matter of time.

Historia
Published in 1941, Random Harvest was contemporary to its first audience, and is painted against the backdrop of the gathering storm in Europe. However, it doesn’t focus on military threats or political wrangling. Instead, it tells the very accessible story of a profoundly good man with normal aspirations who consistently put the needs of others first, and as a result, lived a life he never could have imagined.

A true treasure
Revisado: 06-06-23
So much different than the movie but so much richer in details -- something that no film could match and so much that couldn't possibly fit within the time constraints of such a medium. I am SO glad to have found the original source for this story and so much richer for having read it all. A true treasure!!!

An entirely consumable account of deep subjects
Revisado: 12-22-22
This book covers a wide range of topics in astrophysics that is completely understandable to the average person. Through it anyone can understand why we, as humans, study this subject. It is a fascinating discussion of our universe and our place in it. This book is very well worth the time it takes to listen. Being read by the author, her excitement and interest for her subject shows thru and makes it obvious why she chose this for her life's work. Splendid! Well done, indeed!!!

Historia
Many people in the West look upon the Second Sino-Japanese War, which took place in the 1930s and 1940s, as a sort of sideshow to the larger Second World War, but there is no separating the two. Imagine the Pacific War, the theater of World War II that took place in the Pacific. If the Japanese were not busy fighting on another front, they would have had millions of more troops available to fight the Americans and the British. In all likelihood, World War II would have ended the same way, but it would have taken much longer and cost that many more lives.

An easy read. Really explains the conflicts between Japan and China in the early 1900's and how these led to Perl Harbor. Well worth the time. Good depth as well.

Historia
The true story of what took place in Donald Trump’s White House during a disastrous 2020 has never before been told in full. What was really going on around the president, as the government failed to contain the coronavirus and over half a million Americans perished? Who was influencing Trump after he refused to concede an election he had clearly lost and spread lies about election fraud? To answer these questions, Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig reveal a dysfunctional and bumbling presidency’s inner workings in unprecedented, stunning detail.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

A Story of Courage, Persistence, and Survival...
Revisado: 02-02-20
The book is long and, at times, seems to be wandering but each twist and turn (much like the bayou in which it is set) brings the reader closer to the core and the truth. In the end this is an uplifting story of someone who chould have easily perished but who refused to do so and, ultimately, triumphed... Well worth the read.

Perfect Book For .Me
Revisado: 02-12-18
This book was like a baseball game - you can miss a good amount and not loose any real information. The message is so consistent simply because the subject is so consistent . I am afraid that there has not been any real "test" of this administration yet -- no 9-11, no housing meltdown, etc. It is in these situations - when a president must really rise and lead - that the true measure of the man emerges. I pray for Mr. Trump that he will survive this inevitable day when it finally arrives.
