Historia
Samantha Frayn doesn’t know why Peter Bridges picks her - a nobody with bitten fingernails and a troubled childhood behind her - but she falls quickly. He’s older, charming, likes fine wine and French films, and his beautiful home has real art on its walls. Peter transforms Samantha’s life in an instant. He sees the better version of herself - the one she’s always wanted to be. It’s only normal that there’s a little friction, when she moves in, over domestic matters like where things are kept, or the proper times to eat, sleep, and shower.

Not so thrilling
Revisado: 01-01-20
This book is tagged as a psychological thriller, but I found it a bit predictable and - although it was listenable - not gripping. I listen to lots of audiobooks because I have a lengthy commute, so I listen to a wide variety of books in many genres. I felt as if this book had a good premise but lacked a "page-turner" level of interest as I engaged, to the point that my mind would occasionally start to wander. Maybe I was expecting more, thus finding disappointment.

Historia
As the daughter of a drug dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. It's safer to keep her mouth shut and stay out of sight. Struggling to raise her little brother, Donal, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible adult around. Obsessed with the constellations, she finds peace in the starry night sky above the fields behind her house until one night her stargazing causes an accident. After witnessing his motorcycle wreck, she forms an unusual friendship with one of her father's thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold.

Wish it was a series
Revisado: 07-02-19
I wanted the story to continue.... I was actually sad when the book ended, as I got so wrapped up in the characters and wanted to know what happens next. Wavy was so fierce and yet fragile. I felt a little guilty for liking Kellan so much, even rooting for him at the end. Some of the storyline was, to a certain degree, difficult to believe, yet somehow I bought into each character's journey. What would often be considered reprehensible behavior unfolded so artfully that I was not as offended. This was a thoroughly engrossing book that I'll definitely "read" again, as it's one of those stories that will likely reveal new perspectives, now that I know how it ends.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Unique storyline
Revisado: 07-02-19
Not sure what I was expecting, but this was an interesting listen and even thought-provoking. I feel like this could have been a longer story, with certain aspects vetted or thought through with a bit more complexity and detail, but the overall experience was a thumbs up!

Love, love, love this series
Revisado: 11-11-18
I've read some of the reviews for the J. D. Robb "...In Death" series - that the storylines are too similar. Hey - this series follows the very same "formula" of many hit TV shows (like CSI [city], Law and Order, NCI). I love the characters, and Susan Ericksen's vocal talent makes me forget sometimes that a single person recorded each novel. I read a few books (out of chronological order) a few years back, and I went back to the first book and have been listening to each book that I had not yet read. Even when I know bits and pieces of future events, the actual murder-mystery plotlines keep me guessing more often than not. And the steaming hot, romantic interludes between Rourke and Dallas never get old, either. This is a series that I hope never ends! #hookedonevedallas #murdermystery #hotlovescenes #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Historia
We've all had experiences with two dramatically different types of leaders. The first type drain intelligence, energy, and capability from the people around them and always need to be the smartest people in the room. These are the idea killers, the energy sappers, the diminishers of talent and commitment. On the other side of the spectrum are leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them.

Tomorrow's Professional Environment
Revisado: 11-11-18
This is an important book that makes sense, no matter what level of an organization (particularly corporate environments) you work within. As a middle manager, I learned that I can multiply the talents of my team, even if I don't work for an upper-level management team member who embraces the precepts of this book. The research is sound, the real-life stories are interesting, and the takeaways are logical and repeatable. #solidbusinesspractice #bettermanagement #tagsgiving #sweepstakes
