The story was good but the last 3 hours could have been left out it was the reiteration of what was already said earlier over and over. Male & female not communicating their short comings and fears and just assuming. I can only take so much of the oh I’m not good enough but this was the last 3 hours of it like beating a dead horse. It was a cute story.

I finally stopped listening at chapter 25 I can’t keep listening another 6.5 hours more. I typically like this type of book but this is so slow I just can’t get into it at all. About the other reviewer saying the sex scenes are too much detail, they must be in the last half of the book as I only heard a vague remark about sex in the first 24 chapters. I’m not finishing this book and this is only my 2nd time ever I’ve never done so. The narrator was fair I had no issues with him.

A great who done it murder mystery, not for the faint of heart.

I loved the twists and turns and constant guessing this book offered. Yes there is some blood & guts scattered throughout this book as well, in detail, so if you are easily offended this is not the book for you. This book touched on the horrible depravity in the hearts of true sadist mad men in the world. Again if you can’t handle that there are people in the world who truly are the worst of the worst and the horrendous things that can be done to a human body this book is not for you. This is a murder/rape themed book. This was very well written and had me guessing all the way through. The narrator was wonderful with the different voices as well. I’d definitely get another book from this author!

Different kind of listening experience

Ok I was torn on all the extra sounds in this audiobook. Do to it it was slower and long otherwise it could have been read faster without all the pauses for sounds after they were said. I also could have skipped the sounds of vomiting in toilet in that scene later in the book. Saying that the story was very detailed and peaked my interest but as it dragged on I almost started to fast forward but didn't and stuck it out.

Good novel

The story is a slow building love story with good descriptions but not overly done. The narrator Heidi Baker is what made me give a lower star rating. As other reviewers stated she only has one tone of voice and even when she states the new chapter and who's point of view it is there is no change in voice or tone which did make it hard to keep the 2 main characters apart when listening to this book. The only way to tell is wait for the he said or she said afterward of if you don't listen intently plan to use the back 30sec feature in the app a bunch. Great book written but either 2 narrators or someone that can do different toes or voices needs to narrate this book.

If you like Louise Penny as an author this is on that line & may be the book for you . It was way to slow for my liking I almost stopped listening to it all together. I did stop listening several times (8 or so I think over 2-3 months) as the book didn't peak my interest until chapter 14 or so. I'd opt to start another book than listen to this one in my library. It turned out to be fair the last 1/2 as a murder mystery with the paranormal flair. I only gave 2 stars as this was just way to slow & way to overly descriptive for my preferred taste.

Wow, this one evoked all my emotions!

I have not laughed, cried, routed for the man & woman (clean love story only kissing in this one) as well as remembered memories of my grandfather & WW2 history all in one book! If you don't get emotional at least 2 or more times listening to this book you are not human. I highly recommend this listen.

I just couldn't get into this book. I love books like this typically but the Greek mythology just was not my thing I guess. Narrator needed more voices/tones as I couldn't tell she changed characters at times.
