Poor guy
Revisado: 03-31-24
The poor guy couldn't catch a break. It's all downhill from here lads.
I think that this was worth a read. Not amazing, not near bad. A good solid book.
I wish there was more thrill and horror scenes though.
I did certainly get a huge look into the lives of those in the past and the present. Which maybe some like. I guess it's okay. I'm not usually a book reader.
Overall I would recommend you pick this book up. It has a twisted ending. 😁

Historia
The second novel in the wildly popular First Law Trilogy from New York Times best seller Joe Abercrombie. Superior Glokta has a problem. How do you defend a city surrounded by enemies and riddled with traitors, when your allies can by no means be trusted, and your predecessor vanished without a trace? It's enough to make a torturer want to run - if he could even walk without a stick. Northmen have spilled over the border of Angland and are spreading fire and death across the frozen country. Crown Prince Ladisla is poised to drive them back and win undying glory.

superior GLOKTA
Revisado: 01-28-24
A lot of combat scenes here. Loved following Glokta. the ruined city scene was very exciting. I enjoy seeing logen going bloody nine mode and killing off Shankar. I wish there was some more development of the relationships between everyone, but it was still a great book. why did qui suddenly become a dick this book? did I miss something? I thought he was a weak but kind and a bit lazy of an apprentice back when logen saved his life. is he going to be evil? no idea but this was a good listen. love the voice actor.

Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

pretty good!
Revisado: 01-14-24
an overall well written book. it does not strike me as a five star, but I only reserve that for legendary.
it felt drawn out in some parts, like the conversation between others was filler? the dramatic scenes were well written. I liked the spirits and Logan talking, eaters, and the flatheads being murdered by the band of the nine. I felt sad about the weakest passing, but not too bad as I didn't really feel attached to him.
I love the first of the magi he's cool. an irritable powerful but wise mage.
I think if you enjoy fantasy you will like this book. but it almost feels more political and war focused than high fantasy focused. not a bad thing! worth a read!
