In this book we join Kita, Kimmy and the Angels as they explore a world ruled by misogyny and bigotry. Can they, with the help of some new friends band together to bring about change? We get some fresh romance, a spicy scene, and even a treasure hunt. The angels take everything in stride and offer each other emotional support whenever one of their team needs it. Including how to change your perspective and have a meaningful relationship with a sociopath, which was a refreshing change from this diagnosis being painted as only a monster.

I read this book after reading Birthright and Razor’s Pass, which while doable, I wouldn’t recommend. While the author gave context and filled the reader in, it left me realizing how much of the story I had missed and made me need to price things together that otherwise would have been obvious.

Overall a quick and easy read.

In this book we join Kita, Snowy and the gang as they set out on a new adventure. Where Kita will need to use her diplomacy, decisiveness, and empathy in order to succeed. With all the power she has gained she will rely on her friends and love to keep her grounded. The love connection happened a bit too quickly for my taste, but not unrealistic to many. Another easy read.

This was an entertaining listen, so much so that I listened to it in one go. In book 1, we’re introduced to the main characters and the world. We follow along with Kita as she is introduced to her culture and learns more about the world and herself in the process. She fights against gender stereotypes, righteousness, and the status quo. Through her logic, skill, and diplomacy we meet new and diverse people that join us on her journey. I can’t wait to see where this story will take us next.

We join Thea and her knitting circle as they solve two new cases. In this book new relationships grow stronger, old relationships change, and the community comes together to prepare for a threat that’s on the horizon. An enjoyable listen with characters we know and love.

This was an interesting retelling of Rapunzel where the FMC doesn’t just wait around to be rescued. I really enjoyed getting to know Julien better and watching the dynamics between Genevieve and Julien bloom. I appreciated the distinction between wizard and magician.

Overall a pleasant read with interesting characters.

In the final book in the trilogy, we join Sorcha, Lachlan and Murdoch as they face their greatest foe. Check your trigger warnings. While nothing is explicitly described, what happened to Sorcha is implied as she pieces things together. The story does get dark, but we see our characters try to overcome obstacles and work together. We also get to see Julian and Adrian again. Overall, a good conclusion to the trilogy.

As a continuation of prince of foxes we get to see the differences between Murdoch and Lachlan and Sorcha goes on another adventure. The author takes us through many twists and turns as we discover that we shouldn’t always judge a person as a villain without getting to know them better.

As Sorcha gets to know Murdoch better, we’re introduced to her greatest foe. And who will she choose to have by her side? Personally, I prefer Lachlan a bit better, but who would you choose?

Enter the immersive world of the fae

This book starts off philosophically discussing the importance of names. From here the story grows as we get to know the strong willed, clever, and kind Sorcha and the world in which she lives. This wasn’t a fairytale that I was familiar with, but I enjoyed that while this trilogy exists in the same world as the chronicles of curses, the world building was immersive. In book one of this trilogy, we are introduced to the world of the fae and those that inhabit it: seelie, unseelie, kelpies, and more. This book is clearly the first book and the author left room for the story to unfold in subsequent books. It was also a surprise to discover the narrator can also sing! I can’t wait to see where Sorcha’s journey will take us.

This was an interesting read and stayed with me in ways I did not expect. The book starts off as we meet Lir, and hear about his traumatic past. We then meet Grace and watch as her interest is piqued by the aloof Lir. In the background mysterious things are happening and people are getting hurt. What really happened to Lir’s parents? Who is hurting people? What’s real and what isn’t? We follow Grace as she tries to find the answers to these questions and sort out her feelings for Lir.

I wasn’t familiar with the snow queen when I started this book, but I have seen frozen. While this retelling had similar elements, it’s no Disney movie. Instead we get characters that feel more raw, believable, and includes some mental health elements. We also got a tad more spice in this book.

We are introduced to two black sheep, one ostracized by the village, one by the opinions of others, including family. Both feel trapped, both want to escape, but one uses it to propel them forward, while the other needs some help before they’re comfortable showing their true self. Another compelling story that I listened to in no time.

It was lovely to meet Adrian and Scarlet again, and I thoroughly enjoyed how the stories seem to interconnect.

If you love fairytales, then reading this book is a no brainer.
