Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 08-31-24
I really liked this book. I am not usually into mafia books but this one wasn’t too graphic or over the top on that front. I loved the male narrator. I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. Some of the plot was predictable, but it was a nice change from my normal reading. I was a bit mad after 15 months apart they rushed back together a little bit and the ending seemed fast. I was not happy he worked with Amelia .. but these are minor opinion points and not any issue with the overall writing of the book. Nice lightly morally gray MMC.

Historia
Karis Begay is the only surviving heir to the Begay wolves of the Alaskan Pack. Someday she will take her place as Pack Mother, which is a lifelong burden she has always carried with pride. It kept her isolated from others and hesitant to let anyone close to her. As she enters her freshman year at Archibald Reynolds College, no one knows who she is or who she is destined to become. It's a chance at a fresh start, and just maybe...the beginning of something new.

Decent
Revisado: 08-30-24
The narrator sounded a bit old to be 18 especially when performing the friends voices. The story itself was ok- while this was a short book that I wasn’t expecting to be wow- it almost seemed to drag on some parts. The nice thing about this story is there isn’t much drama at all. There is no break up plot. This is one of the few shifter books where there is only 1 mate that I have read. It was a decent story- but nothing that was amazing. The action was at the very end - the last 20 minutes or so. The rest was mostly daily living. There was not much funny/silly banter at all. It was somewhat cute, but in my opinion lacking something. It was worth a read for those days where you’re not really wanting to either pay much attention or have anything with too much anxiety or stimulation. 1/5🌶️. The writing was ok-seemed either amateurish or just not hugely developed. Also- never figured out why the roommate made such huge deal about things besides slightly worried. She was very immature and annoying- I felt like it was very freshman year of college with highschool mentality.

I expected my new assistant to be professional and punctual, but all I'm getting are dirty looks and rude comments. I should fire the little hellion, but instead all I can think about is bending her over my desk and breaking every rule I've ever made for myself. One look. One touch. One night. If we break the rules, our lives will never be the same again. Good thing rules were made to be broken. And besides, it feels so good to tempt the boss.

New fluff story
Revisado: 07-17-24
I liked that this book had many funny parts I literally laughed out loud during this book. It was cute and funny. Minimal drama. I liked the jokes and the communication by the main characters. They actually acted like mature adults in their relationship. I do wish we found out what happened with Noah being married (not male lead but prominent character).
The spicy scenes were well written with a splash of kink. The only downfall of this book is that while the narrators were pretty good the female narration was a little cringy during spicy scenes because she tried to have a sultry male voice and it fell short for me. The male voice was very enticing and I could have listened to the whole book by him.
I will definitely be checking out more books by this author. Very good read

Story and performance even match
Revisado: 06-14-24
The story had potential. The world was interesting. Can be read as standalone. The performance was just ok. The male voice was alright. He had decent character voices. He just sounded monotonous in between and a little old. The story was written ok- definitely seemed a bit choppy with some off pacing. Overall decent but I don’t think I will read any more of this series. Like a slowly paced Ruby Dixon story with less steam and not quite as well written.

Difficult to rate
Revisado: 06-05-24
This book was a bit difficult to rate because performance verse story on audible. The story line was good. Her writing was pretty good and the story didn’t seem to have choppy parts in it. The female main character was not whiny in the story about her circumstances, which was refreshing. The narrators though made this book a bit difficult to listen to at times. The female narrator seemed like she belonged narrating regency romances. Her male voices were not that great- they sounded a bit raspy and forced, but not bad. Her female voice was pretty good - a bit higher than I typically would expect for a strong female main character in what I would consider an action book. Again- not bad but you need to listen to at 1.25 speed or higher or the female narrator will be too slow and you may not make it through this book. The male narrator had a decent voice for narration- however, when reading it sounded like he would gasp for breath in between his sentences, which made him very difficult to listen to. Overall the story line was very interesting. I would like to continue with the series.

Good but not the 1st
Revisado: 05-04-24
This book was good. I liked that the characters had different spicy interests than most historical romances. The characters spend the whole first 1/3-1/2 of the book with “I can’t like them I just can’t” inner monologue that got a bit much and monotonous- which led to me skipping a chapter or two during that portion of the book. I can honestly say I didn’t feel like I missed much at all by doing that. However- the last 2/3-1/2 of the book was very good and I didn’t want to miss any part at all. It was interesting how the plot ties into the first book. Overall I liked this book- due to the inner monologue at the beginning of the book I almost rated 3/5 stars. However, it did end up being a very enjoyable, fun read.
I did like that Horatia was very honest with him about her feelings throughout the book. Some of the more intimate scenes seemed sudden because of how the author wrote the ordering. This led to it taking a minute to enjoy it because of the abruptness - that is usually explained after or not at all. I did like that the drama of the book/romance did NOT include “I love you forever” with a temporary break up right after that trope before inevitably getting back together. (The hallmark pattern) It was refreshing to have a different plot to the love story without so much break up drama. I cannot wait to listen to the book with Horatia’s sister after this!

Highlander Romance
Revisado: 04-03-24
This Highlander romance was very nice. I found myself staying up late at night to finish it. It was quite good. The beginning was definitely graphic but not the rest of the book. It was slow burn romance. It had mild drama between main characters throughout their romantic journey. It had enough action and banter to keep the story going. The narrator is also quite good.

Decent
Revisado: 04-03-24
I got this book included with my audible subscription. It was a decent book. The stories were ok. My favorite was the 3rd. The first was a bit strange , but still good. However, the series got better in book 2 and 3. The narration was ok. I have heard better and worse. The hardest part of the narration wasn’t because of bad voices- it was in the second book the brogue and Scottish accent was mentioned multiple times throughout and the narration didn’t include that accent when speaking from either narrator. The books would be worth a credit if you didn’t know what you wanted to read and wanted a light, easier going fantasy book. There is minimal spice and also minimal drama. The story line was ok, and thank goodness not a copy of things I have read before. It was nice that they didn’t seem to be following similar story lines of other fantasy books. I would say overall 3.5 -4 star in my opinion.

Great
Revisado: 04-01-24
This story is great. Not much drama at all- great break from many of the other books I have read. Like a hallmark movie (maybe even less drama than that). Shane East has a delicious voice and definitely makes this book great. Great if you’re looking for a low anxiety/drama romance without too much spice but with a good story. I love to call it a “fluffy” book.

For weeks, we retraced our steps back to Mistfell and the lingering shadow of the Veil at the boundary between realms. Traveling through the kingdom, I denied the evidence in front of me, unable to fathom that I wasn’t the lost princess of Faerie. Instead, it is Fallon who must fear the consequences of her heritage. Which leaves me with a single, unanswered question. Then, I awoke, caged high above the throne of the Queen of Air & Darkness.

Worse- spoiler alert
Revisado: 04-01-24
I am ending this series. This is supposed to be a 6 book installment but it shouldn’t go beyond book 4. This book is literally pointless-
*spoiler*
She doesn’t find out what she is. She doesn’t complete the bond. She sells herself to Mab. They do not take down Mab. They never leave the castle the entire book. Nothing new is found out, nothing is resolved. This book is 11 hours of just strengthening a relationship and being tested to try to figure out how powerful she is.
This book drags heavily. This is nothing like ACOTAR contrary to some reviews. It tries to copy similar courts and the plot line of the first book under the mountain type situation- but instead of moving forward it is very stagnant.
The overall performance of the narrators was good. I’m giving up the series- not worth 12-36 hours of listening for nothing to actually be concluded. Personal opinion.
