Historia
Cordelia Canton is on a top-secret assignment: travel to Mystic Bayou and use her powers as a touch-know psychic to learn more about the mysterious artifact that’s been pulled from the rift site. She’s partnered with Brendan O’Connor, a rare male banshee whose tall, dark, and broody good looks are a major distraction. Before long, it becomes clear that the artifact they’re studying is sentient - and brimming with supernatural power. Can they harness its magic in time to stop the secret forces conspiring to steal it?

Loved this series!

Loved this series. Seriously. Started the next book immediately after finishing one. One slight annoyance is the male narrator. He changes the pronunciations of names and the occasional accent of a character from book to book. It’s a bit frustrating to listen to. I find myself yelling at him like he might hear me. 🙃🙄

Historia
Hidden in the depths of eighteenth-century London, a secret apothecary shop caters to an unusual kind of clientele. Women across the city whisper of a mysterious figure named Nella who sells well-disguised poisons to use against the oppressive men in their lives. Caroline and James’ relationship struck a chord, it was so close to what I once experienced. It was hard to read at times and yet so perfectly laid out feelings that I’d never found the words for. The budding friendship between Nella and Eliza and Caroline and Gaynor were lovely, beautifully told. The characters so real and human. The narration was astounding. With a different voice actor for each of the three main female leads, you’re instantly transported to their storyline and back in the same emotional state they left you in. Loved it.

Historia
To understand how we got here, we have rewind the VHS tape. 90s Bitch tells the real story of women and girls in the 1990s, exploring how they were maligned by the media, vilified by popular culture, and objectified in the marketplace. Trailblazing women like Hillary Clinton, Anita Hill, Marcia Clark, and Roseanne Barr were undermined. Newsmakers like Monica Lewinsky, Tonya Harding, and Lorena Bobbitt were shamed and misunderstood. The advent of the 24-hour news cycle reinforced society's deeply entrenched sexism.

Exceptional
Revisado: 12-05-20
I didn’t know how badly I needed to hear this telling of the decade I came up in. Allison Yarrow’s telling of the 90’s is enlightening, eye opening, and often frustrating. Looking at the decade now with some distance and perspective, it’s amazing how the media formed our opinions and views of these women. I have a newfound understanding and respect for the roads these 90’s bitches paved. Thank you to them. Thank you, Allison Yarrow.

Thank you, Melissa Ambrosini. This book is wonderful.

I didn’t realize how much I needed this book. I believed I had a good handle on what I thought of my inner critic. I tend to be pretty good at recognizing and hushing my mean girl. And yet, when I started listening and she talked about her training in dance and acting and her various television roles, I rolled my eyes and thought I never got dance lessons, if I got dance lessons, blahblahblah, and instantly realized how badly I needed this book. How badly I needed to hear about silencing that inner critic. Her narrative is kind and open and loving. She’s warm and just self-deprecating enough to tell the story. There’s are a handful of recurring themes throughout the book to make a point stick. I find myself pausing and taking a deep breathe and reflecting on a question she’s asked. It’s not a listen to my story kind of book. It’s a let’s listen and learn and figure it out and collaborate and move forward with love kind of book. Thank you, Melissa 🖤
