Historia
They say that diplomacy is a gentle art. That mastering it is a lifetime's work. But you do need a certain inclination in that direction. It's not something you can just pick up on the job. A few days ago Sam Vimes was a copper - an important copper, true - chief of police - but still, at his core, a policeman. But today he is an ambassador - to the mysterious, fat-rich country of Uberwald. Today, Sam Vimes is also a man on the run. At some point during his ambassadorship, things went very wrong. It's snowing. It's freezing.

Historia
"The Machine Stops" is a short science fiction story. It describes a world in which almost all humans have lost the ability to live on the surface of the Earth. Each individual lives in isolation in a "cell", with all bodily and spiritual needs met by the omnipotent, global Machine. Most humans welcome this development, as they are skeptical and fearful of first-hand experience. People forget that humans created the Machine, and treat it as a mystical entity whose needs supersede their own.

Incredible. A twisted version of reality that feels all too familiar. A must read for all.

Historia
In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

A perfect book
Revisado: 11-06-20
This is an incredibly read. Miller takes characters that you might have heard tell of your entire life and gives them an emotional and modern grounding that is both deeply moving and fun. It is worth your time.

Historia
When Ray Lilly was 13 years old, a handgun accident landed his best friend, Jon Burrows, in a wheelchair and turned Ray into a runaway and petty criminal. Fifteen years later, Ray returns home after a stint in prison; he's determined to go straight, but he knows he can't do that without making peace with his old friend. What Ray doesn't expect is that Jon has just received a mysterious cure - not only is he out of his wheelchair, he seems stronger and faster than...well, pretty much anyone.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Excellent YA fiction! Great writing!
Revisado: 09-13-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It is an excellent book for any age.
What does Michael Cumptsy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Wonderful performance. Very relaxed, his character voices were never forced.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Pretty much.
Any additional comments?
A wonderful book that captures the spirit of what it means to face adversity, without falling into the obvious choices that real life forces us into. No needless dark themes or unnecessary hero empowerment. Merlin overcomes by good honest integrity of character.
