I struggled to finish this story. it has a weak plotline and the author extends the novel by focusing on whether guys are attractive (hot butts, bulging biceps, etc. Save your time and skip this

I gave it two stars instead of one be cause it was not offensive.

Too bad John Steakly died young.

He published only two novels. This is the best. John Carpenter produced a movie based on this novel but of course the book is better

Probably of interest to fans of the series.

This novella was a chore to listen through. Very little to make you excited. introduced characters and probably future plotlines. I am not going to continue with the series

Farce..probably best when drunk

I returned it after about 10 minutes of listening (audible version). Written as a long joke that gets old. This is nothing like his other books.

Inconsistent, Incorrect, and overdone

It was somewhat interesting although I had to roll my eyes at some of the statements.
(1) There is no question that "New Coke" was a really stupid idea. It is not true that they went back to the original formulation with Coca Cola Classic. They replaced cane sugar with corn syrup.
(2) Any marketing failure is not a "worst idea" ever. All of the new soft drinks that didn't succeed Crystal Pepsi, Pepsi Blue, Coca-Cola BlāK might have been a hit. Which of us can predict the next software drink success? Note: Some of the soft drink products still exist in niche markets, they just don't work everywhere.
(3) The Apple Newton was not a worst idea ever.
(4) Drafting one basketball player over another isn't the worst choice ever unless you have the ability of hindsight.

I could go on and on but why bother. It was worth the 99 cents I paid on the daily deal. If you have to pay more than ninety nine cents, forget it.

Follows a formula

This is the only Kelly Armstrong book I have listened to and it likely to be my last. The story was a shallow mystery with different kinds of people (witches, demons, etc) to fill out the pages.

The most memorable (and not in a good way) thing about the book was how the primary character was always looking to have sex with her husband.

This might be interesting for 14 year old girls, otherwise forget it.

Just the story

This was very enjoyable. The style of the book makes it seem as though you are sitting around a campfire listening to the story. Very little dialogue and individual character development. The story itself is the focus of the book.

Unlike the books written today, there is no chance of a sequel :)

Pick the other Narrator for this burining bridge

The first Night Ranger Apprentice book had left me wanting to hear more about Will and I eagerly picked up the second book in the series. I was extremely disappointed. This narration was *unlistenable*. His accents were over the top. His timing was off. He emphasized the wrong part of the sentence. (Who emphasizes the words "he said").

I had just about decided to read the book instead of listening when I determined that there was another audio edition of the exact same book. The other edition was much more enjoyable.

In summary... this is a poor exposure to the world of the Night Ranger's Apprentice. There is another narration of this exact same book. Save your money and look for it.!

Clever word play does not make something funny

Very clever wording. Each line stands alone but they don't mesh together. Overall this is a formula book, nothing special.
