Another excellent installment in this series
Revisado: 11-16-23
Similarly to other reviewers of this book, I will only say that the rooftop scene was a masterpiece. I've known for a long time that the author excels at crafting the fictional world, intricate characters, and authentic dialogues, but that scene...*chef's kiss*
Furthermore, in this book, we get to know additional characters more closely. In several instances, I didn't think I would come to like some of these characters and completely stop liking others. I wonder if the author will continue to mix things up in my head in the upcoming episodes :).
Overall, I highly recommend the series. The romantic thread is evident, although it unfolds very slowly, but the entire action happening around the characters and their colleagues is as gripping as the best Netflix series :)

Historia
A murdered night club mogul unlocks a web of infidelity and deceit. The most likely suspect? The daughter of the richest family in Baltimore, if only Detectives Malcolm Khalaji and Seong-Jae Yoon can piece the evidence together. The clues just aren't lining up—but Malcolm can't tell if he's missing a piece of the puzzle or completely missing the mark. The McAllister case still haunts him. So many dead. So many he couldn't save. It's throwing him off his game. And the only one who really understands is his strange, coldly aloof partner.

brilliant
Revisado: 11-15-23
At the moment, I'm already on the 6th book in this series, and I still haven't changed my mind: this series is brilliant. However, don't buy the first book if you're trying to save money – I already know that a significant expense awaits me for all the subsequent volumes in this series :)

Historia
When a string of young queer men turn up dead in grisly murders, all signs point to the ex-boyfriend - but what should be an open-and-shut case is fraught with tension when BPD homicide detective Malcolm Khalaji joins up with a partner he never wanted. Rigid, ice-cold, and a stickler for the rules, Seong-Jae Yoon is a watchful presence whose obstinacy and unpredictability constantly remind Malcolm why he prefers to work alone. Seong-Jae may be stunningly attractive, a man who moves like a graceful, lethal bird of prey...but he's as impossible to decipher as this case.

Historia
We became famous overnight. One day, I was a twenty-four-year-old drummer slinging pizzas to make ends meet, and the next, I was a member of the most popular alternative band ever. Despite being world-famous, there was no connection in it. I'd lost touch with reality, with intimacy. I couldn't find a place to be normal. I'd lived my entire life straight-edged while watching obsession destroy my best friend. Obsession terrified me—that is until I met him.

Liam DiCosimo never disappoints, but...
Revisado: 09-05-23
I love Tor Thom's voice, but darn, his flat intonation really annoys me. Moreover, all the voices he uses here are so similar that sometimes I don't know which character is speaking and when the dialogue ends and the character's thoughts begin.
So:
Liam DiCosimo - 5/5
Tor Thom - 3/5

Revisado: 08-27-23
I'll start by saying that if proposing to Zane Daniels was possible solely based on how brilliantly he sounds as Zercy, I'd totally do it.
I love this book, to be honest, much more than its first part. The plot is much more intricate and truly engaging. Congratulations to the author for creating such a vivid fictional world.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next volume (well, a few more to be precise :>)

Historia
It was never meant to be more than a dare: A party game. A dare. A single kiss. That’s all it took to flip my world upside down. I’ve always classified myself as straight, and as far as I can tell, so has he. I didn’t think one kiss would change that, but I was so wrong. Now, I can’t stop thinking about him. My best friend. Aspen. His taste is branded in my memory, his touch seared in my skin. And I want more. Which is why I start tossing out new dares. Riskier ones that toe lines we never thought we’d cross. But there’s so much more at stake here. Like my heart.

Surprisingly good audiobook
Revisado: 08-22-23
There isn't too much dynamic action in this book; it's a typical romance focusing on the emotional lives of the main characters, and that's exactly what I needed today. I really enjoyed the relationship between the main characters, the evolution of their feelings, and their self-awareness throughout the entire length of the book. And even though I usually prefer more plot in a book, this book is just fine the way it is, it's very good.
Separate congratulations to the narrators, both did a great job.

Historia
Being a fugitive in the Old West shouldn’t be this much fun. The year is 1860. Robby Riverton is a rising star on the New York stage. But he witnesses a murder by a famous crime boss and is forced to go on the run - all the way to Santa Fe. When he still can't seem to ditch his pursuers, he disguises himself as a mail-order bride he meets on the wagon train. Caught between gangsters who want to kill him and the crazy, uncouth family of his "intended", Robby's only ally is a lazy sheriff who sees exactly who Robby is.

I'm impressed by the narrator!
Revisado: 08-21-23
I read this book a few years ago, and since I like revisiting books I enjoyed, this time I went for the audiobook. I really enjoyed it, but to be honest I'm writing this brief review just to say that it's the first time I've listened to a book narrated by this narrator, and I almost fell off my chair when he started singing at the very beginning of the book and he did it well <3. Actually, I liked every aspect of the work done by the narrator in this audiobook: the voices he chose for the characters, the accents, and the dynamic dialogues.Congratulations!

Mixed feelings
Revisado: 07-16-23
I'm sorry to say this because I love both Tal Bauer and John Solo, but this audiobook was not good. Actually, from about a third of the book, I couldn't stand the main character whose thoughts were exhausting and on an emo-teenager level, and unfortunately, John Solo chose a very irritating voice for those thoughts (as well as for the dialogues with those thoughts). On top of that, the main character's daughter behaved more like a 9-year-old than a 16-year-old for most of the time.
At some point, I even wished the author would break the rules of romance and pair one of the characters with someone else entirely.
I still plan to read all of Tal Bauer's books and buy books narrated by John Solo, but I think this one might be better to read instead of listening to, and even then, I don't know if the book wouldn't end up in the pile called "didn't finish."

surprisingly good books (and hot as hell)
Revisado: 05-23-23
I approached this series with the expectation that it would be simple erotica with a plot. I wasn't entirely mistaken, but I didn't expect the plot to be so well-crafted and superbly written. I thought I would be rolling my eyes, but instead, I found myself truly immersed in the characters' lives. I couldn't find any faults in the quality of the prose either; these are genuinely good books.
As for the erotica aspect of the story, my husband called and asked for the author's address to send her flowers and a thank you note :).

Historia
I was just a boy when the monsters rose on earth, forcing humans to flee to the coastlines and live in cramped, dirty, military-controlled cities. I enlisted as soon as I could to escape. Now, I’ve been in the military for twelve years and have the scars—and missing body parts—to prove it. As a hardened soldier who’s spent his fair share of time out in the Wastes—the dangerous place where monsters roam free—I didn’t think anything could surprise me anymore.

Eastern European Charm?
Revisado: 05-23-23
In this installment of the series, I still greatly enjoy the voices chosen by Michael Lesley for the characters, although at times I felt like banging my head on the desk while listening to Edin's slight Eastern European accent. Perhaps it's because I myself am from Eastern Europe, and the mixture of Polish and Russian accent and the addition of magical "yes?" or "no?" at the end of sentences reminds me of the stereotypical portrayal of a Russian villain in Western movies. Nevertheless, this choice suited Edin.
As for the book itself, in my opinion, it's slightly weaker than the first book in the series, but still a very enjoyable read.
