Historia
Colin Dickey is on the trail of America's ghosts. Crammed into old houses and hotels, abandoned prisons and empty hospitals, the spirits that linger continue to capture our collective imagination, but why? His own fascination piqued by a house hunt in Los Angeles that revealed derelict foreclosures and "zombie homes", Dickey embarks on a journey across the continental United States to decode and unpack the American history repressed in our most famous haunted places.

American Ghosts - a sociological perspective
Revisado: 01-20-17
What made the experience of listening to Ghostland the most enjoyable?
I don't like horror but I loved this book. It looks at American ghost stories from a sociological perspective - how and why they arise, what purpose they serve, how they change - with curiosity and intelligence. It was engaging, well-researched, and I really enjoyed listening to it.

Insightful and Interesting
Revisado: 11-26-14
Would you listen to The Five Flirting Styles again? Why?
I found the book to be insightful, fun, and valuable.
I am very glad that I selected it.
The narrator has a wonderful voice, but it seemed to be mismatched with a content a little bit. His voice is warm, sonorous, and slow - which is great, except that the book references "30 Rock" episodes and uses phrases like "What's his deal", which seems to go better with a voice that's young, fun, and a little wry.
But don't let that deter you. :) Go ahead and give it a listen.

A completely practical approach delivered with a nonjudgmental style that makes readers want to do what Sethi says, it is based around the four pillars of personal finance - banking, saving, budgeting, and investing - and the wealth-building ideas of personal entrepreneurship.

Inspired Me to Overhaul My Personal Finances
Revisado: 06-27-14
If you could sum up I Will Teach You to Be Rich in three words, what would they be?
I got this book on a whim (even though the title made it seem kind of dumb) and I'm glad I did. It's the first book I'd ever read on personal finance and Ramit's good advice and fun approach motivated me to make some serious financial changes. Now I'm tracking my finances, I started high-interest online checkings and savings accounts, I got a credit card, and I'm going to be opening a Roth IRA. I didn't agree completely with everything he said (I kind of balked at his advice about salary negotiation and I ended up picking a different bank for my savings account than the one he recommended), but his personal finance strategies are great and it was fun to listen to him.

Jim Butcher hits it out of the park again
Revisado: 06-27-14
Any additional comments?
The Dresden Files is an incredible series and having James Marsters as a narrator makes it pure gold. "Skin Games" was as wonderful as I'd hoped it would be and the only drawback that I can think of is that now I have to wait until Jim Butcher comes out with another book.

Historia
Striking out on your own for the first time is exhilarating. But in a culture full of bad advice, predatory banks, and splurge-now-pay-later temptations, it can also be extremely dangerous - leading you to make financial decisions that could hurt you for years to come. Combine this with a slumped economy, mounds of student loans, and dubious examples from reality TV stars to politicians to your own parents, and it’s no wonder so many twenty-somethings are struggling.

Great Book
Revisado: 06-27-14
Where does How to Be Richer, Smarter, and Better-Looking Than Your Parents rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I thought that this book was funny, interesting, and full of excellent and up-to-date information. I really enjoyed the narrator as well. It may be kind of politically incorrect at times, but I would consider this one of my favorite personal finance books.
