Historia
There wasn’t much money to be made as a Trailblazer, searching out new worlds for possible development. Still, it was safer than the bounty hunter career that had cost Gregory Roarke his left arm six years ago. And thanks to his Kadolian partner Selene’s ultrasensitive sense of smell, they occasionally discovered a medically promising seed or spore they could sell under the table. It was a quiet life, uneventful and mostly legal. Until Roarke was approached by two men with a proposal: track down a mysterious woman named Tera and, through her, locate a secret project called Icarus.

The reading took away from the story
Revisado: 07-08-24
The reading was overdone, witth annoying grovely voices, heavy accents, the main character shouting a lot, and some of the conversations painfully slow. I made it through to the end, but at some points considered returning it rather than continuing, and will not be purchasing any more audiobooks with this reader.

Performance
Revisado: 10-05-23
There are sections where the voices of the various characters are so slow and exaggerated they detract from the story.

Historia
From dolphins to crows, elephants to octopuses, Nussbaum examines the entire animal kingdom, showcasing the lives of animals with wonder, awe, and compassion to understand how we can create a world in which human beings are truly friends of animals, not exploiters or users. All animals should have a shot at flourishing in their own way. Humans have a collective duty to face and solve animal harm. An urgent call to action and a manual for change, Nussbaum’s groundbreaking theory directs politics and law to help us meet our ethical responsibilities as no book has done before.

Couldn't listen to this narration
Revisado: 01-06-23
The book is read in the kind of quivering voice used in commercials showing starving, shivering dogs. The prose is devastating enough without this style of reading. I wanted to return the book after listening for a few minutes, but could not because I had pre-ordered and paid for it rather than using a credit, so annoyed with Audible as well as with the narration.
