You Are Enough, Matty
Revisado: 11-08-22
I really enjoyed listening to Matthew Perry’s story. It was honest, raw, heartbreaking…and had that typical Matthew Perry self-deprecating humor. I hope getting his story out to the world was therapeutic for him, and I hope it reaches the people who need to hear it and learn from it. I hope Matthew Perry finally hears the words he needs to hear, and I hope he finally feels that yes, he is enough!!

Wishing Carly Robins narrated this one
Revisado: 11-05-19
I'm not sure if it was the narrator or the story that had me going, "Meh." There were many times I wanted to turn this off because of the monotonous tone of the narrator. But because it was a Brenda Novak story, I had to continue. I love Kyle - in all the other books. This one, not as much. I believe though it the narrator had a lot to do with it. I also felt that this story didn't have as much angst as the others, and I felt it fell a little flat.
Bring back Carly Robins as narrator please. Thank you.

Almost all her friends are married now, and that's what Eve wants, too. Love. A husband and kids of her own. But the B and B she manages-and even Whiskey Creek, the small Gold Country town where she was born and raised-suddenly seem - confining. Eve is worried that her future will simply be a reflection of her past. There's no one in the area she could even imagine as a husband - until a handsome stranger comes to town.

Historia
By the time Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her little boy after two years away, she has completely changed her life. She's made peace with her past and overcome the negative behavior that resulted from her difficult childhood. Now she's back in the small town that was the closest thing to "home" she ever knew - the town where she can be with the sister who is her only family. There's just one catch: Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 10-14-19
The performance by Carly Robins was as always phenomenal. The story line was ok - the subplot was out there, and I didn't like it. I also didn't like that the heroine is depicted with dark skin in more than one part in the story, and Aaron, when seeing a picture of Wyatt, says, "well the father is definitely white" leads me to believe that Presley is a black woman, or at least partly (I did not read the book about Cheyenne and Presley's upbringing - it's on hold at the library), but the cover is clearly a white woman. Why not use a black woman on the cover? I think we need more diversity on covers, especially if the story inside depicts it. Anyway - that's not why I'm giving the book four stars overall. I did not like the subplot with Cheyenne and I didn't like that Aaron felt a little bit manipulative to me. But I still love me a Brenda Novak novel.

Historia
Christmas is a time for remembering - too bad not all memories are pleasant. Everyone in Whiskey Creek remembers Sophia DeBussi as the town's Mean Girl. Especially Ted Dixon, whose love she once scorned. But Sophia has paid the price for her youthful transgressions. The man she did marry was rich and powerful but abusive. Then he goes missing - and she soon learns that he died running from an FBI probe of his investment firm.

Historia
When small-town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake meets Greta Dare, the connection couldn't be stronger, but the timing couldn't be worse. Dealing with the fallout of a divorce he never wanted and setting up a new home for his kids, Hix becomes that guy, that one he never wanted to be, and puts a stop to things before they can even start. Protecting his kids and himself is his only priority. Greta, on the other hand, has found the place for her and the brother she adores that's perfect for them - a sleepy little town in Nebraska.

Okay, but way too long
Revisado: 05-17-17
What did you like best about Complicated? What did you like least?
I liked the romance between Hicks and Greta, but I didn't like that there were so many scenes that were just unnecessary to the plot. There were too many sex scenes also that did not add to the plot. One or two in the right places would have been sufficient.
Would you be willing to try another book from Kristen Ashley? Why or why not?
No. Her book was just too long and too much that wasn't necessary to the plot and subplots.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
If the author left out a lot of fluff in between. Too many details where there didn't need to be.
Any additional comments?
I didn't like that they all treated Andy condescendingly. Andy was special needs, but they did not need to talk to him as if he were a toddler or a first grader. Every single character referred to him as bud or buddy, and the tone they used was very patronizing. I wouldn't be able to refer this to anyone else unless they just needed to fill 13 hours of their time.
