Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

Great performance, terrible story
Revisado: 04-15-21
The characters become really insufferable halfway through. The author seems to believe in some kind of global banking conspiracy theory.

Historia
Make sure the kids aren’t around! Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the art of the children’s bedtime story. Nick Offerman presents this collection of 12 short stories written in the style of a classic kids' tale, but with a decidedly dark and adult approach. What really happened after Snow White died, from the perspective of the one medically trained dwarf? A naive wizard professor reports back from the trenches of an underprivileged school of magic. And much more!

Stop saying the narrators are funny
Revisado: 04-22-20
Instead of just saying the names of the author and narrator, Nick Offerman says "narrated by [narrator], who is extremely funny". What's the point? Just let them read the funny stories.

Mostly not about foods
Revisado: 11-19-19
This recording has some recipes, but it's mostly boring anecdotes about the chefs' families. Twain's Feast is a much better Audible production.

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Great content, annoying performance
Revisado: 07-23-19
Every time anyone mentions New Jersey, there's this annoying voice actor who yells "JOISEY!!". I don't know why they thought that would be funny.

Capitalism vs. Socialism: Comparing Economic Systems

Historia
Ever since we produced our course Thinking About Capitalism, customers have expressed interest in a follow-up course that could help them understand socialism in the same way. After much consideration, we determined that it actually would be more beneficial to create a course that compares and contrasts the two major global economic theories, examining them in ways that move past the polemics many of us are used to and looking at these systems as they relate to one another and the world at large.

Not an Economics Class
Revisado: 05-03-19
This lecture series is fine except for the title. It's called a comparison of economic systems but then the lectures are just collections of historic facts about countries with different types of economies. It's a good history class, though.

Fun fictional story

An exciting mystery. It's excellent "historical" fiction. But apparently the print version claims it's all true...
Narrator was great with voices and accents.

Bad for audio format
Revisado: 08-28-18
The book is okay, but it doesn't lend itself well to the audio format. There are very many characters, some with similar names, and if there's any noise or distraction while listening, you might lose track of who has met whom or knows each bit of the plot's developments.

Struggled to listen to the first few chapters so I gave up. Eventually I came back to it, and the middle and end of the course are much more captivating.

Historia
We have all pondered seemingly unanswerably but significant questions about our existence - the biggest of all being, "Why are we here?" Philosophy has developed over millennia to help us grapple with these essential intangibles. There is no better way to study the big questions in philosophy than to compare how the world's greatest minds have analyzed these questions, defined the terms, and then reasoned out potential solutions. Once you've compared the arguments, the final step is always deciding for yourself whether you find an explanation convincing.

The narrator is good, but has an unfortunate habit of presenting his opinions as if they are the dominant consensus view of all philosophers.
