Historia
Dion Fuller sheltered a US marine who'd stolen night vision goggles, and perhaps a few top-secret files, from a nearby military base. Dion found himself arrested (under the ostensible auspices of The Patriot Act) for conspiring with international terrorists to smuggle top-secret military equipment out of Camp Pendleton. The fact that Dion had absolutely nothing to do with international terrorists, smuggling, top-secret military equipment, or Camp Pendleton didn't seem to bother the military.

One of my Favorites on Audible!
Revisado: 05-13-19
I got into this writer's work after watching the stellar TV show "Killing Eve". What I really loved was that although the TV and book's main characters are very alike, the stories are different. The book isn't just a complex rehashed screenplay version of the show. You can read and watch both, and not be experiencing the same stories. Although the show borrows heavily from the books environment and main characters, many parts and stories about Villanelle and Eve are different. To be honest, some of the killings Villanelle carries out in the book, couldn't even be on TV. I was excited about how the characters seem so human; real, confused and conflicted about things they feel they have to do regardless of their feelings. The moral quandary for both the hero and villain, protagonist and antagonist, is fascinating. The narrator was perfect for the story. Her expression, variation and pacing of the storytelling and characters and moods made me feel it was really happening. I went through both audio books "Codename Villanelle" and "No Tomorrow" in less than a week! I often lose interest in a so-so book and never finish them, so this isn't typical for me. Dark, deep, character driven, gritty and engaging books and well worth the money. Hope we'll see more like this soon. I have read a lot of suspense, but there is something unique about the world Jennings creates that draws you into it and you don't want to leave. These are my favorite books I have bought from Audible!

Historia
Thirty-four years ago, on October 31, poor Hannah Talbott took part in a scavenger hunt gone violently wrong. The mean girls made sure of it. To this day, for a haunted local mother, the most unsettling Halloween costume of all is an urban legend they call Hannah-Beast. It’s a reminder of the past she can’t forget. Especially tonight when it’s come back, so close to home.

Delivers the goods and made it worth the bumps
Revisado: 10-11-18
I felt the story was excellent and the narration good overall. This is an excellent narrator. I have enjoyed her other work. What I dislike in the narration, others might see as a good thing. I felt the voices of the whining girls was really annoying, too much of their grating voices. It took away from enjoying the story. The girls could sheik and be annoying, but without being so irritating. Maybe too much realism. The story is great and the climax isn't predictable. If you can handle listening to taunting and screechy teen girl voices, the tale is great. Delivers the goods and made it worth the minor bumps.

Fascinating and complex
Revisado: 10-11-18
This story was difficult to listen to at times, but also gave me some real insights on a women's perspective. I really thought it made the reader feel part of the story. The narrator is excellent. I felt like I was a part of the main character. I love a good dark story that isn't real predictable. This is a great marriage of story and narrator. When it ended my reaction was "Wow, that was a good one!"

Historia
On the eve of Marcus Cicero's inauguration as consul of Rome, the grisly death of a boy sends ripples of fear through a city already wracked by civil unrest, crime, and debauchery of every kind. Felled by a hammer, his throat slit and his organs removed, the young slave appears to have been offered as a human sacrifice, forbidden as an abomination in the Roman Republic. For Cicero, the ill forebodings of this hideous murder only increase his frustrations and the dangers he already faces as Rome's leader.

Rich and absorbing storytelling!
Revisado: 07-28-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Conspirata to be better than the print version?
Have not read the print version
What was one of the most memorable moments of Conspirata?
Harris writes the Cicero in a way that makes him seem not only real, but you end up feeling you are on intimate terms with him. The most memorable part was feeling I knew all the characters personally or was speaking to a friend, who was speaking with me about other friends, who like us were ancient Romans.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scenes where Cicero wins over the antagonist who is exploiting the weak in the Roman provinces through clever maneuvering and internal politics. I'd say more but don't want to be a spolier.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When we learn Cicero stuttered and overcame it and became a famous orator and force in Rome. Especially when his old enemies remember it and try to tease him about it. After one knows this his defeat of his foes with his rhetoric, wit, strategy and understanding of Rome and the human character is more moving and powerful.
Any additional comments?
At times I felt Cicero was sharing inside gossip and secrets about others in Rome, then had to remember this is fiction and Cicero was real, but this is a story. Great stuff and well worth the money. I was working on 12 foot "roman walls" for the stage design of "Antigone" while listening to it, so the perfect time to enjoy the audio book.

Very Informative and Tools to Help the Reader
Revisado: 05-10-16
Would you consider the audio edition of In Sheep's Clothing to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version of the book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of In Sheep's Clothing?
At times the insights and clarity of understanding of this relationship and it's dynamics was amazing. I found myself saying out loud "Yes, Yes, exactly!"
What does Kevin Foley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Listening to Kevin Foley's easy to listen to audio version, allowed me to absorb the whole book on a long road trip and apply it right away.
What did you learn from In Sheep's Clothing that you would use in your daily life?
Many practical ways to survive and communicate with covertly aggressive people, who are very difficult and "crazy making" if you encounter these people in your life.
Any additional comments?
This is the fourth book I have tried on this subject. When I read an excerpt online and every paragraph on convert aggressive people fit what I am dealing with, I sought it out on Audible. I was dreading reading it, since other books on similar subjects were so worrying and disturbing, or so condemning and hopeless, that they were just upsetting. This book was so different. It described what covert aggression was, it's traits, the differences between character dysfunction and neurosis and how to define it. It warned you what to beware of from the individual in analog stories, how to actually live with and handle it in real life. Thank you very much for this book! If you are dealing with a covertly aggressive person and want help, this book is excellent.

Liam Mulligan is as old school as a newspaper man gets. His beat is Providence, Rhode Island, and he knows every street and alley. He knows the priests and prostitutes, the cops and street thugs. He knows the mobsters and politicians--who are pretty much one and the same. Someone is systematically burning down the neighborhood Mulligan grew up in, people he knows and loves are perishing in the flames, and the public is on the verge of panic.

Good Reporter Based Mystery
Revisado: 02-19-15
What made the experience of listening to Rogue Island the most enjoyable?
The narrator really made the book. The voice work sounded like what I imagined the character would sound like with the right accent and expression. He made the story seem real. He made some small parts that I thought seemed dumb more funny instead. I felt like I knew the main character by the end due to the character development and the performance.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Well, yes and no, it's a slower build then some books, but it is like a piece of music, you don't want to be blasted in the face all the time with powerful waves. It did seem much more mild than some others I have read, but it also didn't make me disgusted or sad when I finished a few hours of listening. I'm a tough audience, since too harsh and I don't like it and too little drama and I'm bored. So a good book, but not as much tension as some.
Which character – as performed by Jeff Woodman and Bruce DeSilva (Introduction) – was your favorite?
The main character was my guy. Very human and rough edges, but a ethical core and believable person.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked the surprise moments of action that came up all of a sudden.
Any additional comments?
It would have been better with more intense moments. Less silly references to stories and the paper.

Variety, Fasinating Characters and All Noir!
Revisado: 01-27-15
What made the experience of listening to Los Angeles Noir the most enjoyable?
Story were just long enough. The stories had the dark twists and unhappy endings of Noir, but not always as you expect. A great variety of characters and environments al with that common dark, noir factor winding through the collection.
What other book might you compare Los Angeles Noir to and why?
Some aspects of Joe R. Landsdale in terms of the Noir parts. Some features of Max Allen Collins like in True Detective. Accurate descriptions of places and environments and the harsh feel of real crime stories.
Which scene was your favorite?
It's a collection, but some of the cosmic justice ironic noir consequences were just great. Spoiler alert: One example is a detective, an expert on crime scenes, sets up an auto accident for a rich woman to kill her husband in a car crash that he rules an accident himself at the scene of the crash. You find out he is also planning to blackmail her, since he is recording her on the phone from his car. When he hangs up his phone, he looks up to see that suddenly a coyote is in the road! He runs off the pavement and off a cliff! He dies the same way his victim died :-)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I could, yes!
Any additional comments?
Really great if you like noir. I will be buying more from the series.

Great Quality Story Telling
Revisado: 10-20-14
If you could sum up Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections) in three words, what would they be?
Imagination Richness Vibrant
What other book might you compare Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections) to and why?
Not the grinding fantasy world of Game of Thrones, but sci-fi and fantasy short stories that have a unique realist feeling through the characters, environments and the way the writing lets you feel empathy for the star of the story in a way that I rarely read in that genre, that makes it so much better than the average work. I can imagine the events much more as actual events in his science fiction than any other I have ever read/heard.
Which scene was your favorite?
All the stories are different, but I like the Tuf Voyages stories the best.
If you could rename Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections), what would you call it?
A Kaleidoscope of Worlds
Any additional comments?
The voice talent is excellent but Scott Brick is fantastic. Best I've heard for fiction, my favorite.
