Historia
Every beginning is also an end. Rem, the Foxkin Oracle of the Wildwood, knows this better than most, seeing as he is on his second life. Most people don't get another chance at the whole life thing after a stupidly oversized adventurer's hammer uses their head to paint a tree, but a goddess on the Pantheon of the Divine sees great potential in Rem. Granted salvation by his Patron, Rem becomes a Dungeon Core, a magical entity tasked with creating the trials essential to helping adventurers become the true warriors they were meant to be.

Well written, excellent narration, dogshit teacher
Revisado: 06-29-23
Triveri writes very well, with engaging characters and a very interesting world setup. Many of the characters have flaws and complexities that are clearly well-considered and react in appropriate ways. Kemp’s narration compliments this writing very well.
The one major downside to me so far is that Ansith is an absolute abomination of a teacher, and so far no one has called him out on it.
I’m still only halfway through this book. Ansith has so far engaged in: “sink or swim” methodology, abuse of minors, fomenting discord among allies, gaslighting, and victim blaming. This happened over the course of three “lessons.” It’s very clear that Ansith is a megalomaniacal narcissist who wants all his students to simultaneously fear him and believe he is the only one they can trust, so that he can use them as child soldiers in his ongoing war against an enemy that he still has yet to describe in any terms more concrete than “hope you never have to fight them alone.”
Triveri usually seems to have a fairly good grasp on the consequences of his characters’ actions, so I still have hope that Ansith will finally get called out for this behavior, but I’m not holding my breath, either.
Tl;dr, Trigger Warning: Abusive Teacher

Historia
Qube was designed to die.... As the cheerful childhood NPC companion who helps the [Player] learn the world during the start of the game, it was only natural that the big bad would kill her at the end of the tutorial, kick-starting the [Player] on a quest for vengeance. The only thing is, no one told her that.... And this particular [Player] doesn’t like to play by the rules. Being a chaos-loving gremlin, he glitches her out of her programming loop and drags her on various adventures. They'll grapple with friendly sharktopuses, evil emperors, and what it means to be a person.

Program tester inadvertently has a First Contact situation
Revisado: 09-27-22
On the one hand, this is a pretty standard “tropey fantasy video game/novel from the perspective of the characters,” as seen in Dark Lord of Derkholm, A Practical Guide to Evil, and others. The addition of the Beta tester player, OTOH, is a delightful twist, as his deliberate attempts to break the programming make for some outrageously absurd situations.
The performance is done quite well, as expected with these performers, though there were a few isolated instances of lines being attributed to the wrong characters, and some readers will find the occasional background sound effects distracting.
Overall, I’m very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

Description Misleading
Revisado: 12-20-17
Based on the description, this sounds like the book is a Pratchettesque comedy. Even the writing and performance styles continue that impression. It is not. The description does warn of gore and sexual situations, but I was not expecting the two to happen simultaneously. Here's some of the warnings that should have been included: sexualized gore (gorn), vore, implied bestiality, severe mood whiplash. I appreciate the performance by the reader, but stopped listening halfway through due to the content.
