Historia
Marry the girl I've had a crush on my whole life. Check. Inherit a $100 billion company. Check. Produce an heir...Wait. What? I have 90 days to knock up my brand-new fake wife. There's only one problem: she hates my guts. And in the fine print of the contract? The requirement that we produce an heir. She can't stand to be in the same room with me and says she'll never be in my bed. But I've never backed down from a challenge, and I'm not about to start now. Mark my words, I'll have her begging for me, and it won't take 90 days.

Okay descriptions. Better options available
Revisado: 09-26-24
Dislike narrators impersonating opposite gender. Preference for play style with natural voices. Overused language typical of genre: mind’s eye, intents and purposes, bottom line, princess bride reference to “As you Wish”, anatomy descriptors, nemesis named Bradford Pear? Why would an otherwise intelligent female lead not be better informed on birth control or sexuality or more in tune to determining her own fate? Lead female should be more in control of her health, life and decisions to be a believable character. I felt suckered for buying the series. It should have been one buy in. Segmenting one book to bill for two with freebie part one. Narration underwhelming. Characters unlikeable. Okay graphic descriptions.misinformation on the reliability of condoms. Tongue in cheek humor. Underwhelming heroine. Liked Rosita character.

Narrator voice good fit. Writing feels authentic. Plot engaging. Characters well written. Some details triggering to past experience, but done well to be able to distance as fiction.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Engrossing characters and plot
Revisado: 04-16-24
Well developed characters and engaging action. Rooting for Charlie. The journey helps him reconcile his flaws, his past, and move forward without being a two dimensional hero. The Midwest references to landmarks, towns, and phases brought back bits of my past. Likely will replay in rotation of favs. Excellent narration.

Andie has a plan. And she always sticks to her plan. Future? A top-tier medical school. Dad? Avoid him as much as possible (which isn't that hard considering he's a congressman and he's never around). Friends? Palmer, Bri, and Toby - pretty much the most awesome people on the planet. Who needs anyone else? Relationships? No one's worth more than three weeks. So it's no surprise that Andie's got her summer all planned out, too.

Only Okay. Safe Feel Good Story about Tween Relationship Stories
Revisado: 11-02-23
Narrator high pitch fitting to main character, but similar to the YouTube dramatic anime cartoon narration. Headache causing. Voice variation between male and female characters was better than most. Fitting to teen story, but annoying to read or listen is to much text conversations read aloud. The emojis!!
The story is safe, predictable, similar to many others with a few humorous details in character descriptions.
Plot would have been more interesting with more realistic combinations of dramatic consequences for actions without the happily ever after factor.
Decent attempt at conservative naive* characters navigating first loves and maturing friendships set in a privileged high school without much diversity regarding culture or sexual orientation. A few tweaks and less first person narration could have made the plot and relationships amongst friends more interesting.

Obvious plot, flat characters , not done enough
Revisado: 07-06-23
The male characters not believable in catching on sooner to manipulative females. Better twist would have been for Father and Son to silently let the women both suffer consequences of their dramas. There is no action accountability, thin layers of connection between main and secondary characters. The death scene seems stolen from Delores Claiborne and is foreshadowed early in the plot. Technology makes the plot twists unbelievable. If the girlfriend can manipulate google searches and snoop voice mail, then why doesn’t one or all of the group use cameras on the luxury home or use the record function of the cell phone? No one has done a background search or hired an investigator when a sketchy new person creates conflict? More research and better plot twist using secondary characters plotting together such as: Father, his flame, and lead male conspiring to gaslight the conniving women. Maybe Wendy is not so innocent. Maybe the realtors have a rivalry to gain the commission on the Kensington home. The only decent character is the onlooker- moving man who knows to run from the damaged people. Needs more research into forensic, better character development and backstories built, and a fresh take on psychological motives.
Not scary, engaging, or logical in how this story works.
Pro- The travel descriptions were interesting.

Soap Opera genre
Revisado: 06-08-23
Settings and supporting characters well developed, predictable plot, and unsatisfying ending. Messy relationships, just kill off or disappear a character if the loose ends are a pita. Chronological errors in when story is set. Committing a crime and tracking evidence could have been better researched for realism in succeeding in the perfect crimes. Messy Private Eye attempt.

Almost there
Revisado: 06-07-23
Short entertaining hour but predictable. It needed a twist at the end for victim to not be the hero, but to outwit the predator at his game. The scene could have more detail and supporting characters more depth and realistic interaction. The flashback was awkward in timeline placement. More attention to the physical reactions under mortal stress. She seemed to be mostly in control or shut down in shock. I would have expected a more depraved move by a cool character and some game metaphors relating to strategic moves like chess, hunting, or debate terms. Good bones for an episode for a teen drama. Likely I’m the wrong audience.

Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Main character fleshed out well. Focus is on prey/predator plot. Interesting twist. I would have liked to have the romantic interest more detailed as person. She is used more as a detail in the plot.

Engaging Short Story with one technical note
Revisado: 05-17-23
Great fiction. Narration engaging. Story interesting. Plot pacing and story length well done.
One tech note- Alice’s Rh neg is not rare. Type AB neg and lack of antibodies - golden blood, or presence of rare K antibodies best fit. From a blood testing lab QA worker. Minor detail.
