Historia
In the spirit of Oliver Sacks Awakenings and the TV series House, Dr. Eric Manheimer's Twelve Patients is a memoir from the medical director of Bellevue Hospital that uses the plights of 12 very different patients - from dignitaries at the nearby UN, to supermax prisoners from Riker's Island, to illegal immigrants, and Wall Street tycoons - to illustrate larger societal issues.

Excellent read!
Revisado: 11-18-17
Catherine Ryan Hyde is a writer who draws you right into the story. you feel the characters their feelings ups and downs right to the very end. when Paul said he would not be friends with Angie, I almost wanted to cry. when I got to the end of the book and it turned out well for both, I felt that so deep in myself. I've read others of her books and this was certainly right on point with them.

Historia
At the trial of Christ, Theophilus, brilliant young assessore raised in the Roman aristocracy, stands behind Pontius Pilate and whispers, "Offer to release Barabbas." The strategy backfires, and Theophilus never forgets the sight of an innocent man unjustly suffering the worst of all possible deaths - Roman crucifixion. Three decades later, Theophilus has proven himself in the legal ranks of the Roman Empire. He has survived the insane rule of Caligula and has weathered the cruel tyrant’s quest to control the woman he loves.

The Advocate Lives!
Revisado: 06-18-15
Where does The Advocate rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 10
What other book might you compare The Advocate to and why?
Mark of the Lion
Have you listened to any of David Cochran Heath’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I am not sure
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would of if I could have. It was literary "dining" at it's best. When a meal is meaty you have to take time to chew and digest.
Any additional comments?
This novel brought a Bible character mentioned only twice by name to life in the times and cirumstances under which he lived. As a student of the Bible and a lover of history, this writing, listening to it, kept me thoroughly engaged. The fore-shadowing with young Theophililus being a victim of Caligula's cruelty became evident only at the end when this man of integrity is willing to die for his beliefs. Inasmuch as he is portrayed an legal advocate for those wrongly accused, he puts us in the front row in his quest for justice.
Equally satisfying was his wish, granted, to be with the woman he loves. Though she was beautiful, he loved also for her quick mind, she being a partner in the quest for justice.
I plan to listen to it again, it was so-o-o good!
