Book 3 wow
Revisado: 02-06-25
I wish I could give it a 4.5 stars. I have read all three in this series and they are all good. The first is the one I liked the best and the 2nd and this one the 3rd are tied. I thought this one took a little time to lay the groundwork for the story but it was an enjoyable read. The end really makes up for a little slow beginning. Oh, my so many twists and turns. Just when you think that's it but wait you say there is this little bit not resolved they add more to info on the story. By the end you are like wow that was amazing.

I love this series
Revisado: 02-11-24
I have not read this series in order. in Mt opinion it makes no difference. This audiobook might be my favorite. Frankie takes on a missing case that takes place in extreme elements. Not the normal way Frankie does things but we learn so much more about who Frankie is and just what she is capable of. At one point I thought for sure she wouldn't make it out. loved everything about this book.

I didn't want to leave a star review but I had to
Revisado: 11-15-23
I just don't think I can rate this book. I am glad I read it but it was not an easy read for me. Matthew Perry has just passed and he reads this audiobook. So it was difficult to listen to his voice which sounded different to me. I could hear a pain in his voice it's hard to describe but there was something different. The book is brutally honest from Matthew's point of view and is very raw. I had no idea the extent of this man's pain and addiction. I loved that he found God a source of comfort during many of his most difficult times. If someone asked me if should I read this book I would say yes but it is not a happy-go-lucky story, Towards the end of the book he kind of repeats himself and I saw that as a look into his mental state. At the end of the book, Matthew says "I was a kid from Canada who had all his dreams come true. They were just the wrong dreams!!" This one statement brought the whole book together for me. RIP Matthew your wit and smile will be missed.

Historia
The Russian mob recruited a hired gun from New York, and the guy looked exactly like Walt Williams. This uncanny resemblance landed Walt in the dog house with his wife, the cops, and the Italian mob. It takes all Walt’s skill and cunning to stave off an all-out war between the Russians and Italians and undo the damage wrought by his evil twin.

I have always wondered if I have a twin out there
Revisado: 10-03-23
A doppelgänger, say what. I have always wondered if I have a twin out there. Well Walt Williams has found his and it's not good. Seems his evil twin is with the Russian mob and causing a hard time for Walt. Robert Thornhill just keeps writing winners. George Kuch once again does a great job of narrating this book. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.

Historia
Having resigned his position at Bow Street in disgrace (at least in his own mind) and failed in his attempt to establish himself as a private agent, John Pickett toils away at a tedious job as a clerk in the city. When he is approached by a man wishing to hire him to extract a young lady being held against her will at an asylum for opium-eaters, Pickett jumps at the chance to prove himself, and has a very reluctant Julia commit him to the institution as a patient. But nothing at the Larches is exactly as it seems.

I love John Pickett stories
Revisado: 10-03-23
I am always amazed by how much I fall in love with the adventures of John Pickett. This book starts out with Julia still pregnant with their first child and John still working for the accounting firm. Oh, and his half-brother has come to live with them. John soon finds himself no longer employed by the accounting firm and off he goes on another adventure. This one deals with the dreaded Poppy Opium. I so enjoyed this audiobook that Joel Froomkin reads. Joel has become the voice of John Pickett for me. I want to thank the author of the ARC but this review is all my own opinion.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Revisado: 10-03-23
Wow! I was recommended this book and was very skeptical but thought I would listen to it and see. First J.K. Simmons does an amazing job of reading this book. Second, once the story started to unfold I was hooked. Ove is on grumpy old man and I have met a few people like him. In the future, I will think of Ove when I meet someone with this kind of outlook on life. Fredrik Backman did a lovely job of writing this story and showing all the characters and how they interact. I laughed and cried and thought I knew this man. Loved this book!

Revisado: 07-08-23
I have read these 4 books before when they first come out and I am a fan. I like audiobooks and thought I would give this set of the first 4 books a try. So happy I did. Penny Scott-Andrews does such a lovely job of bringing this series to life.
So If you like small English villages, and clean, fun mysteries then this series is for you. I am enjoying them and Reverend Annabelle Dixon. I love her spunk and the interaction between Annabelle and Inspector Nichols.

Historia
Blair Martin’s days rarely vary: she gets up, goes for a run, and then heads to work at a Manhattan literary agency where she nurtures authors through the publishing process. Her nights, spent alone in her too-large apartment, are similarly predictable. Then on an ordinary Wednesday, Blair enters her office building and spies a lost wallet. When Blair tracks down the owner, they arrange for a simple exchange. But the young woman, Maya, seems so vulnerable, much like Blair’s own daughter, Faith, who died tragically just last year, and Blair is unable to simply walk away.

This novella is great, my only complaint was the ending. But the more I think about it maybe this is just an introduction to a longer story. I hope so because it is well written and was a great listen to. The narrators Lauren Ezzo and Susannah Jones do a wonderful job.

Fun Book
Revisado: 03-13-23
I tend not to read historical romance but I saw that Joel Froomkin was the narrator and I love his voice. Plus Sheri Cobb South writes a series that I love "John Pickett Mysteries" so I thought I would try it, and I am so glad I did. What a fun listen/read. I loved Joel's narration voice for the character Susanna who is from the American Frontier. Oh my goodness so fun! The story was a bit predictable but I didn't mind at all. It's not a mystery to solve so don't you want the guy to get the girl? That is the point of a romance, right? It has been my experience that you will enjoy anything written by Sheri Cobb South and read by Joel Fromkin, can't go wrong.

I have read most of the Advocate Series and book 13 is terrific. Once you start the book you will not want to put it down until you have finished. That said, even if this is your first book in this series, you will enjoy it and do fine. Teresa Burrell is an excellent writer and she spins a web that keeps you wanting more. This audiobook was narrated by John Bell and who is incredible at keeping you interested. I love his different voices.
