Sam is the better narrator
Revisado: 03-29-25
This is my favorite book in the series as it most reflects what is currently happening within America right now even though it was written years ago. Unfortunately, Sam T. is a much better narrator than the guy reading this book. I wish I could find the copy with Sam narrating again. I know I used to have it, unfortunately, audible doesn’t seem to have it. Shame, because Sam does voices much better. Zedd, Addy, all of them, much better. John seemed to have missed that Addy has a gravely, raspy voice. He makes her sound like a young naive girl. It’s just wrong. I really love this story, so I hope that I can find the other version to add to my collection.

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 12-12-24
It was a pretty quick read. Maybe it’s just me, but it all seemed fairly obvious what was going to happen between Kingfisher and little Osha. I would have liked to see the story fleshed out some more as there is ample potential, but editors aren’t very good anymore it seems. It’s easy to say the water is hot. It’s entirely another thing to paint a picture with words that show the reader the water is hot. This book is the former, it tells the reader what’s happening. It felt a little light in the way of meat and potatoes story building. I hope the next book is longer. It really does have a lot of potential, but I personally think the writer needs to be pushed a bit more. This was too short. It reminded me of what it’s like to binge watch a series.
Overall, I liked it and think it’s worth the listen. Looking forward to seeing how the store develops from here in the next book.

Where’s the meat and potatoes?
Revisado: 07-01-24
This story was okay, but not great. Not sure how it got such a high rating, but it was not earned. This story felt rushed, and left so much out. The author seemed to have a decent idea, but I think a better editor would have pointed out the many ways that the story could have been further fleshed out and better character development (ex: it would have been nice to learn more about Cameron and the other girl whose name escapes me, or when the MC overheard the conversation with the suspicious dude Tarton? Was that his name? Ugh, nonetheless, the MC literally overheard dude plotting, then proceeded to ignore it all-no further development of this plot twist, no dissection whatsoever with the girls, just all twitterpaited-love struck girl syndrome). Overall, I think if the author had a better editor this story could have been much better and I’m shocked there is more than one. With all that, and as things stand, this story reminds me a good deal of a short series by Mercedes Lackey, (the Hunter series), with a mix of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger.
If you’re just looking for something to pass time, I suppose this is worth a listen, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and I certainly would not pay for this book.

Historia
In Search Of Black History with Bonnie Greer brings you face-to-face with the people you never knew existed. People whose stories tell us a different tale about who we all are. From the earliest glimmerings of modern humanity, up to the present day, Bonnie Greer uncovers the lives of people of African descent that don’t fit with the accepted history of Western Civilisation we’ve traditionally been taught. From saints, to philosophers, to warrior women and king’s heralds - these people’s lives have been lost, hidden and distorted down the centuries.

They came after the Diseray. Some were terrors ripped from our collective imaginations, remnants of every mythology across the world. And some were like nothing anyone had ever dreamed up, even in their worst nightmares. Now, the luckiest Cits live in enclosed communities, behind walls that keep them safe from the hideous monsters fighting to break through.

Great story! Engaging all the way through!
Revisado: 09-12-21
This is my second read through with this series. I do wish it was longer, but outside that I think this is a fascinating world that I would love to know more about. The author is good at painting clear pictures, and the narrator does well giving life to the characters. Glad to have this series in my collection.

Story is under developed
Revisado: 07-13-21
I feel that the writer could have been pushed to develop this story more and rally flesh out the characters, but instead rushed the story along with limited foundations. My attention was lost when the MC states she is going to kill Loki, as if that were possible. Again, this story feels under developed. If the writer had a developmental editor, they did not do their job well.
Read it or don’t. I personally tried to continue on with the story, but it’s missing too much and rushing right along. Not bad, just not there.

My favorite book series
Revisado: 07-06-21
I love this book. I have listened to it more times then I can count and am excited to have now introduced it to my son who also enjoyed it. Seed is and always will be my favorite wizard. You know that you have a good book when the characters still piss you off even when you know it’s coming LOL. You will not be disappointed for starting this series, and start here with “Wizards First Rule”. You can read “Debt of Bones” later as a little bonus later.

The runes book is WRONG
Revisado: 06-12-21
This book trilogy was great, right up until the runes were being listed. Not only are they out of order, but they aren’t even right. Whatever editor fact checked this did not do their job properly. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The first two books were good, however now I am questioning the information since the last was so inaccurate. I did a comparison of what the author was saying about the runes order, names, and meanings to a runic book I have in physical copy, and it was all wrong.
5 stars for performance since that was good. 2 on the rest since the information is unreliably sourced.

Strange take on GoT
Revisado: 02-02-21
Meh, the story is ok. The author uses vulgarities to cover up his repetitive descriptors, and overall lack of story development. It’s full of proud lions, roaring lions, the light this and the light that, and don’t forget the ruthless eagles that somehow are tougher than lions🤷🏽♀️ Honestly idk if I’ll bother with the next books.
