Historia
Michael Freeman is a disabled veteran who had just been fired from his mind-numbing cubicle job, which allowed his opportunistic girlfriend to dump him. Now, he only wants to spend some time at his grandfather's mountain cabin so he can unwind, away from the drudgery of daily life and with a cold beer in his hands. Standing in his way is an ancient spaceship with an emotional AI, nanites that have invaded his body, an international crime syndicate, a suicidal FBI agent on a vigilante mission, terrorists . . . and that's just the beginning.

Refreshing surprise
Revisado: 10-18-23
I had never heard of this author or narrator but decided to give it a shot. Am I ever glad I did! While the writing was a bit too on the nose at times, it had a great story and was well paced. Looking forward to starting the second batch ok as soon as I finish this review.

Historia
Morgan and his extended family could see the light at the end of the tunnel, dim though it may be. There was the promise of power once again. The plant was being repaired, and it looked as though it may actually run. While it meant lots of hard, sweaty work, the reward was worth the investment. The farm was growing strong, and community involvement was good. People were finally coming to terms with the fact that they needed to work together. So far Mother Nature had been on their side. But that, too, was about to change.

Another great entry
Revisado: 04-17-23
First things first - I am from the area that the book takes place in, and I'm happy that it seems that Fontaine has finally gotten a pronunciation guide.
With that out of the way, I enjoyed this book. Unlike many of the previous there wasn't too much actually going on, but it does a really good job of showing the changes that are happening as the community continues the process of rebuilding and how that looks different than "the before." There are two major plot points in the book, which I won't spoil, but I will admit that I think that the first one was not fully utilized and didn't quite show the risks of living in Florida without modern conveniences. Honestly, it could have been the focus of a book or two on its own. My only guess is that he couldn't figure out how to throw that much at them without breaking the group. Fair enough. The second, which involves the invasion, is sort of a slow burn which doesn't really manifest until the end of the book, though I imagine its the start of a new arc in the series, so we'll see how that goes.

Historia
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Don’t give up on it
Revisado: 07-02-22
The narration just didn’t work for me. Don’t get me wrong - I think the narrator is good but his style isn’t suited for this book I think I started this book 3 times before I was able to stick with it - and I think that was only because I was had sux more hours of driving ahead of me and no other books downloaded. Once you get past the narrator it’s a good story that is worth the effort.

Historia
For years, the ancient alien AI known as Skippy (the Magnificent, don’t forget that part) has been able to do one impossible thing after another. What is his secret? It’s simple: 100 percent Grade-A extreme awesomeness. And also because he had never been faced with an opponent of equal power. Until now. This time, he might need a little help from a band of filthy monkeys.

Revisado: 07-01-22
With 13 prior books it’s hard for me to rank this one but I will say that it’s the best out of the last several. I am glad that Alanson seems to have fully gotten away from the crisis of the moment books. Can’t wait to see what happens in the finale - it’s going to be great!

Revisado: 03-12-22
After having so many recent sci-fi novels ruined by woke nonsense it was so refreshing to see the author and Capt Husher set things right. Aside from that it’s an excellent return for Capt Husher, Fesky and the rest of the crew fight yet again to save the galaxy.

Ugh… a disappointing end to a great series
Revisado: 01-02-22
With the knowledge that it was the last Expanse book I started the book wishing it would never end but by the middle I couldn’t wait for it to be over. 90% of the book seems to be an exercise in beautiful yet pointless exposition. Seriously, you could start the book 2 hours from the end and be no worst off for it. The end was…. Well, brief and less than satisfying.

Excellent though a bit long
Revisado: 11-29-21
I can help but feel that this book is a bit too long and could use some some attention by a good editor. I enjoyed the book though and I think it sets up what has the potential to be a great series. My only other quibble is that it felt like this was more the 2nd book than the first. I won’t say why because I do t want to give anything away but once you’re in the book you’ll see what I mean.

Reyes, a scientist from Phoa's last colonial enclave, and Thanata, a bioengineered hunter from a rival tribe, must work together to halt the Green: the massive swarm that absorbs plants, animals - even entire cities. But if the unlikely pair hopes to survive the mutated wilds and the deadly Green, they'll have to learn to understand each other.

Glad I stuck with it
Revisado: 11-05-21
I'll admit, I put this book aside after about an hour to listen to something else. Usually, when I do that I don't return to them despite intending to, but I did come back to this one. It was a bit rough at first, but after a bit, it got much better and I was glad I didn't leave it aside. The story and performance of the narrator were both good, and I hope that future books continue to build out Phoa and the different factions.

Ugh….Pass
Revisado: 10-26-21
In what is quickly becoming a sub-genre, this book does all it can to convince you that all white men are evil and only want to exterminate anyone who doesn’t look like them. Really getting tired of this “look how woke I am!” Nonsense that seems to be in vogue amongst authors these days. Would return it but I only spent a few bucks on it so I’ll just keep it there as a reminder that I probably should actually read the details about a title before buying it.

Takes a bit but once it gets going…
Revisado: 10-16-21
To be honest I almost stopped listening but I stuck with it. Once it finally got going though boy did it ever go. Reads a lot like a novelization of a movie. And while the narrator is obviously talented I am not entirely sure this was the right book for him. All told though this was a fantastic book and if you find yourself looking to move in to your next title early please stick with it and you’ll be rewarded.
