I’m not a huge fan of her acting but I will watch with new eyes now. Thank you, Viola for opening your heart and pouring it onto the page and into our ears.

Invisible Women is not Perez expressing herself as an angry woman about to burn her bra. While this isn’t an empirical research study, it is a collation of interesting arguments which cannot be ignored.

As a woman of colour who grew up in Apartheid South Africa, thank you Layla for penning this book. I’ve leant new names for prejudice I have experienced since I was a child and it’s such a relief that I can now name experiences or understand what I’ve long known to be wrong.

Often, white people are told to do the work and educate themselves but don’t know where to go. Start here. And share this with everyone you know.

This is doing the work and it’s hard.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't because it's interesting and heartfelt but I didn't touch me in the same way as some of the other reviewers expressed.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The best part was hearing from Paul's wife, Lucy. Her perspective added another dynamic to the book as she shared her experience which showed vulnerability and such bravery.

Do you think When Breath Becomes Air needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, I'd love to read more from Lucy.

If you could sum up I Am Malala in three words, what would they be?

Brave; Humble; Inspiring

What did you like best about this story?

This brave girl is so inspiring. Malala shares her story in a humble way that allows us to hear about her life before she was shot. She was not an overnight sensation, she had dedicated her life to the cause of education long before that fateful day we all know about. I also appreciated hearing more about the Taliban as well as her love for her country, beautiful Pakistan.

What does Archie Panjabi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Panjabi did justice to this story. Her narration allowed the story to grab us without overpowering Malala's voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Malala's relationship with her Father as well as the occasional reminder that she might be fighting the Taliban, but she's still a girl growing up.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I always try to persevere to the end of a book but not this time. Sometimes it is insightful for a narrator to read his/her own work - Maya Angelou is a good example of this. In Between You and Me, the narration is very difficult to follow due to the author's specific voice. I suggest listening to clip before purchasing the audiobook.

Due to the nature of Norris's work, the anecdotes that make the book are all about English grammar. I thought that this would interest me, but I was wrong.

Has Between You and Me turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes, as the speak might be too technical - in this instance, it's about English grammar.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her voice was too gruff for listening to the entire audiobook.

If you could sum up The Object of My Affection is My Reflection in three words, what would they be?

Insightful, informative, useful

Which scene was your favorite?

The characteristics of a narcissist as well as how to deal with them. Aspects of the book I found important: setting boundaries, the concept of shrinking, action statements, stating one's rights and finally, grieving the dreams we had created whilst in a relationship with a narcissist.
