Historia
Gather round as today’s most diabolically clever authors twist simple moments into otherworldly horrors. An empty baby stroller. A scratching underneath the bed. A farmhouse in the moonlight. With an unnerving sense of the macabre, these stories transform our greatest fears into bone-chilling realities.

Seriously?
Revisado: 03-10-25
What the heck? I expected so much more from these authors. These short stories sound like something that a second year college creative writing student might produce. Did Stephen King listen to his son's first story before he allowed him to release it? I listened to only one and a half of the stories before I asked to return this audio book. C'mon authors.... I realize that there is a ton of money to be made by taking these old short stories out of the trash and dumping them on your loyal readers, but I think this will not pay off in the long run.

Tried to listen, but I gave up and couldn’t struggle through this audio book. I had the feeling that it could have been a pretty good book/Audible book with a few changes. I was happy that I didn’t have to use an Audible credit.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Struggled to finish
Revisado: 10-12-24
This was a fairly good story narrated by my favorite, Scott Brick. I buy almost every book narrated by Scott. The story was interesting at first, but there was so much infighting that I almost stopped half way through. With the fate of the world in the balance, would the people likely able to save the world engage in so many battles about whose in charge and how to proceed? Much too much "Mine is bigger than yours" to suit me. However, I kept listening and enjoyed most of the remainder of the story.

Hurwitz and Brick: Perfect!
Revisado: 07-14-23
This book was actually on sale at Audible. What a bargain! Books written by Gregg Hurwitz and performed by Scott Brick are always a pleasure for me. I usually buy every book that they write and perform, but somehow I had missed this one. What a pleasant surprise it was to find it on Audible's discount page, and then to enjoy it so much.

Two other men are in the classroom—an FBI agent and a CIA analyst. Each is a first-rate operator, each is fresh off a big win, and each is wondering what the hell they are doing there. Then they find out: A Jihadist sleeper cell in Hamburg, Germany, has received an unexpected visitor—a Saudi courier, seeking safe haven while waiting to rendezvous with persons unknown.

Normally, I really enjoy Lee Child’s Jack Reacher audio books. Not this one!
Far too long, but likely to make a 1-1/2 hour TV movie that might be good….. Wish I had stopped around six or seven hours. Too long!!!

Returned This Title
Revisado: 06-23-22
Based on reviews, I thought I would enjoy this audio book quite a bit. Unfortunately, I kept losing interest and/or dosing off while listening, and replaying long segments. I finally returned the audio book when I realized that I would never finish listening. I don't like bashing writers, based on my preferences, but I can't really say much good about the story. The narrator did a respectable job. Please note that I love audio books and usually have trouble pausing at the end of a drive, or for other commitments.

I purchase all Baldacci books without reading reviews or listening to samples, but I really have to stop doing that. I got through a chapter or two, and just couldn't listen to Brittany Pressley any more. In any fairness, I didn't give the story much of a chance because of the narration. I have been an Audible member for over a decade, and this is only the second book that I have returned. Please listen to the sample before buying.

King and Sparks at Their Best!
Revisado: 03-26-22
I've been reading or listening to Stephen King's books for decades. However, it had been a few years since I listened to one of his books, and I was not familiar with narrator Paul Sparks. In fact, I rarely stray from narrators with whom I am familiar. I have to say that, to me, "Billy Summers" was King at his very best, and Paul Sparks did an excellent job. If you love King's audio books, I think you will enjoy this one very much.
Update: I just read a bunch of the reviews of "Billy Summers". I was amazed at how many people gave the story and the performance really bad reviews because of the references to '45'!! Good grief, guys and girls, this is still America, and Mr. King can have an opinion about '45', just as you can. Please... Get over it.
