Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Too Long but the Premise was Interesting
Revisado: 01-19-18
As the title says, This book was too long. Many of the details could have been cut and nothing would have been taken out of the story. Things get repeated and then repeated again and again to make sure you know it is important, how evil someone is, etc. I found my mind wandering (especially when it came to the rich woman) at too many times for me. That said the premise was interesting and would make for an interesting series just cut the length down. There also seemed to be a few inconsistency that were poorly explained away or not at all even when Simmons tried. That said this was my first and I will be willing to try another one.

Historia
The destruction of the Death Star by the Rebel Alliance was a decisive blow against the Empire, but Palpatine and his monstrous enforcer, Darth Vader, are no less of a threat. The brutal extermination of Alderaan not only demonstrated the magnitude of their murderous power, but served as a chilling testament to their resolve to crush the Rebel uprising. Standing against them, Skywalker, Solo, and the Princess remain uncertain opponents. Luke is gifted and brave, but unschooled in the power he possesses.

Wonderfully Perspective
Revisado: 01-01-18
I loved this perspective of this story. It tells the story of what some of the footsoldiers in the Empire thought of their jobs, their superior, and the rebels. Great characters and fairly interesting story. I do wish there had been more about the soldiers and less the rebels but great story. There needs to be more stories like this.

Historia
The Peloponnesian War pitted Athens and its allies against a league of city-states headed by Sparta. The ancient Greek historian Thucydides captured this drama with matchless insight in his classic eyewitness account of what was arguably the greatest war in the history of the world up to that time. These 36 half-hour lectures draw on Thucydides' classic account as well as other ancient sources to give you a full picture of the Greek world in uneasy peace and then all-out war in the late 5th century B.C.

Historia
Travel to other planets is now a reality, and with overpopulation stretching the resources of Earth, the necessity of finding habitable worlds is growing ever more urgent. There’s a problem though—because the spaceships are slower than light, any communication between the exploring ships and Earth would take years.
Tom and Pat are identical twin teenagers. As twins they’ve always been close, so close that it seemed like they could read each other’s minds.

This may be one of the most interesting of Robert Heinlein many interesting books. How does space travel affect time for different people, is there a special connection between twins, and many other fun topics. It does get a little slow at some points but overall a very enjoyable read or listen.

What is really Real?
Revisado: 12-02-17
This isn't the most thought provoking Heinlein book but the concept of interdemensional traveling is fun. It begs the question of what is real? is everything real and fleshed out or just a figment of our collective imagination. Beautifully told if a little wordy at times. Some parts do last longer than enjoyable but over a solid place in the Heinlein canon especially with some of his other stories and how they connect.
My only real gripe was the number of narrators. It was hard to follow who was talking when they each added their own flair to each character and made it hard to connect then at times.

Historia
Set in the 26th century A.D., Yevgeny Zamyatin's masterpiece describes life under the regimented totalitarian society of OneState, ruled over by the all-powerful "Benefactor." Recognized as the inspiration for George Orwell's 1984, We is the archetype of the modern dystopia, or anti-Utopia: a great prose poem detailing the fate that might befall us all if we surrender our individual selves to some collective dream of technology and fail in the vigilance that is the price of freedom.

A Game of Manipulation
Revisado: 12-01-17
A wonderfully told story with fascinating characters. We is much like 1984 but with a hive mind aspect in the population. Everyone is trying to manipulate the main character and use his unique knowledge to undo the other's plans.
I do wish the world outside the wall was explored more but it was an interesting universe to explore.

In the more shadowy corners of the world, frequented by angels and demons and everything in between, Laytham Ballard is a legend. It's said he raised the dead at the age of 10, stole the Philosopher's Stone in Vegas back in 1999, and survived the bloodsucking kiss of the Mosquito Queen. Wise in the hidden ways of the night, he's also a cynical bastard who stopped thinking of himself as the good guy a long time ago.

Why is he doing this?
Revisado: 12-01-17
The main character's purpose in the story is to be an egotistical, abusive, self destructive, pain in the a**, and forgettable character. He is a necromancer... and doesn't use it in any interesting way in the whole story while proclaiming how bada** he is.
You know who would interesting to hear about? The grandma. She was interesting and not a narcissist.
the story could have easily been 2-3 hours long. There was also one to many "Oh, that's convenient" moments for it to even be a good detective like story.
