Eh… long and slow. Surprised this is a new book because it is not as good as her past books. Premise is interesting but pace is slow, drags on. I don’t think there are twists and turns as advertised.

Largely melancholy story with funny dialogue. Should appeal to the introverts among us.
Memories of my long Scottish trek. Surprised at how well the author “got” the lady. Very funny.

Sad story about a dysfunctional family

This was sad with too much detail about hoarding .
But I kept reading. Adult family dysfunction. I wish there was more detail about why the main character hoarded. I did not like the main character. She was pathetic. She never tried to stand up as an adult. This probably colors my book review.
Overall— just okay.

Calm, coming of age story about three brothers. We become immersed in their struggles and relationships. I appreciated the male perspective. There is a family friend, but not a main character. I think the title is deceiving. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Annoyingly Narcissistic!

I tried. I couldn’t finish this story. I could not empathize with the main character. So self-centered! When you don’t like the main character (and it’s all about her) it’s hard to spend time with the book!
So disappointing. I loved Frankel’s earlier books.
Previous stories provided insight into real-life unusual situations. This story is about an unrealistically selfish person disguised as “thoughtful”.

I have read a lot of detective police procedural novels — Penny, Cleaves, Todd, Grainger. This is my second Grimm novel. It includes dark violence. I will not read more because of this.
I did enjoy the main character and his team, but reader beware.

I’m surprised that there are so many positive reviews. This story is disturbing. Both her childhood experiences and the current day relationship with the doctor. This probably appeals to young adults. I couldn’t finish it.
