Some of this will work, and that's the problem.

I'd argue this book is a detriment to the people who read it because it gives just enough benefit to mislead you. It also doesn't help that the narrator sounds perpetually torn between coughing up a huge lump of flem or completing a 6-hour yawn.
I first tried to read it in print years ago because a good friend loved it. I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like it then, but since then I had in-person therapy, read real psychology works, and see clear evidence that I've grown as a person. I returned to listen to it recently and I outright hate it now.
The title makes it seem like this book involves Psychology or Neuroscience, but it's actually a glorified combination of a self-help and sales pitch (for nlp) book.
There are elements of effective therapy modalities in this book. However, those elements are repackaged and watered down to be part of "NLP" without reference.
If you read this and think NLP is so helpful and you should learn more about it, or that you've no mastered your emotions. Stop. You're going down the wrong road for an understandable reason, just like my friend ended up doing, and it could waste your valuable time because you think you've already found something that helps.
To truly find what you thought this book was about read books on Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Attachment Theory, and even small talk and experience them in real life.
These will give you real self-knowledge and create actual lasting change, not just give you the false feeling that has happened and some cliche exercises and tricks.

I knew the gist of Houdini's life from documentaries, but was still surprised by how much he did, and struggled, that I didn't know about. There are also some scenes (like the opening one) which are deliver more dramatically and less like an accounting of fact which are very gripping.

The actual content of this book could fit of a post card "Things take more work than you think, work harder, success is out there and you deserve it." Everything else in this book is filler that muddies the waters, explains that the author himself doesn't actually follow the 10X rule to the T, and talks about success as if it's a physical thing you can go pick of the ground if you get pumped enough. Did i mention success, because success and if I didn't success, success (he says it so much it sounds like an attempt a the Law of Attraction/Manifesting/The Secret junk). Having that delivered in an ongoing inside-voice bro-yell gets used salesman sounding really quick.
If you've never read anything about work ethic, business, a biography of a successful person, and have never taken time to think about your life and what you want out of it and how hard you're willing to work for it, then this book may blow you away. However, if you've done even one of those things this book will be a instant waste of time and seem heavy handed and corny.
