Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Why the narration hate?
Revisado: 01-04-24
I just don't get it. It's a new main character. So, why wouldn't the narrator change? I think she did a wonderful job and, by the end, was the voice of Nesta. Maybe not the best at masculine voices but, that's a tall order for anyone with a soft voice.
I'll admit, I wasn't in love with the idea of an entire book about Nesta. And, she still isn't one of my favorite people, if I'm being honest. But she's trying. That's all anyone can ask of another.
This book is definitely worth a read.

Cliffhanger!!!!
Revisado: 08-02-23
I enjoyed the book. The characters, the story, all of it... until it came to a sudden end right in the middle of the story. What happens next?!?
I really dislike cliffhangers. I feel it's a cheap tactic that most authors don't need to use.

I really don't seem to care how great the story, characters, plot, or anything else may be. If the book ends opened, I'm out!

Cliffhanger!
Revisado: 02-08-22
I enjoyed the characters and their adventures. I wasn't paying attention to the time remaining so I was super surprised when the book ended! Right in the middle of an adventure! I just really dislike cliffhangers and endings with no resolution. If this book had an actual ending if would have been great.

Cliffhanger Alert!
Revisado: 09-09-21
I really liked the story. The world, characters, background, everything!
But, I just can't get on board with cliffhangers.
I should have known when books 1 and 2 ended the same way but with this being a box set it didn't really dawn on me.

Warning ⚠️ Cliffhanger Book
Revisado: 07-08-21
I didn't enjoy the initial hopping from place to place and character to character but, I caught on relatively quickly and liked Bethany-Anne from the beginning. The story developed well and didn't move annoyingly slow. The setup was in place and the main characters obvious, with both likeable and interesting. Then... I hear ending credits! The story wasn't even at a good stopping place, in my opinion. I really dislike cliffhangers. This story was enjoyable enough not to need such an outdated tactic.

Historia
Medical-school-dropout police detective Richelle Dadd is...well, dead. But that won't stop her from trying to hold on to her house in a divorce battle with a bitter husband. Or keep her from digging into her own murder, to discover who put the bullet into her heart. Or from coming to terms with her Gypsy heritage. And it certainly won't stand in the way of finding out the reason she's been reanimated as a zombie assassin, no longer in control of her life.

Spoilers in the second paragraph below!
Revisado: 06-25-21
First, I just finished the book and am dying to discuss the necrophilia claims. Slight spoilers just to negate the other reviews following... If you believe books in which vampires and humans have sex can be considered as such then that's your opinion. I do not follow that line of reasoning myself so I cannot call what happens in this book necrophilia either. And, the sex scenes aren't very graphic or numerous. That doesn't seem to be the main point the author wants readers to take away. That's my opinion anyway. Now, onto more substantial spoilers, stop reading now!
I really do like the MC but, of course, she has her flaws. Who doesn't? She is a little (very little, in my opinion) "man crazy" for a period but, after an unsatisfying marriage and all the changes she is experiencing (you know, like being undead and all) I don't see that as being out of place. We all handle tough situations in our own ways. Also, the MC is undead but still a functioning human. She isn't a rotting, pus riddled zombie. She's much closer to a vampire, in my opinion. Her offspring would even be considered a dhampir, following the magics and beliefs of the book. Anyway, I'm not great at reviews, I just really think this book is getting a crap rap in the reviews.
I read this book knowing full well what the reviews were saying. But, I've had reviews steer me wrong before. I personally don't like reading erotica. I'm not judging anyone who does, and I believe those authors are very talented, like most authors, it's just not for me. I believe this book does a damn fine job at getting the romantic/sensual point across without being too much.
I would ask you all to give this book a shot and write reviews afterwards. I doubt most readers (those into urban fantasy, paranormal romance, sci-fi, etc.) will have such negative thoughts about this book.

Wow
Revisado: 06-14-21
This book has a great balance of "I knew it!" moments and conclusions that knock you off your feet. I was engaged and never bored and the characters are pretty awesome.
I'm not sure I enjoyed the very cliffhanger-esque ending. The story was somewhat concluded but, then a major "dun, dun, dun" (very daytime soaps) ended the last chapter.
This book is worth the credit and a great read. I just don't want to continue the series with cliffhangers possibly being at every ending.
