Historia
Caesar, an undercover operative, enters Carmichael with the briefest of orders from his boss and a countdown on his phone. What will happen when the clock strikes zero? Deputy Amelia Miller is dispatched from a nearby city, and a series of events keeps her around much longer than she'd expected. In the middle of the night, something shifts, and the whole town disappears off the face of the Earth. Who caused the shift, and what lies beyond the veil of their settlement?

Good story and solid character development
Revisado: 01-14-25
I personally love world jumping books like Island in the Sea of Time and 1632. This one is a parallel worlds story, which is just as fun, and it takes a whole town and all its dirty laundry and personal dysfunction. It’s well worth your time. Oh, I had one issue. The main beasty was too populous to be sustainable, so be prepared to wave your hands in suspension of disbelief.

Historia
In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

Summer blockbuster that entertains but does little that is new
Revisado: 12-21-24
Robinson and Bray are a reliable pairing, and this production is a good example of their deep talents. You’ll be entertained even if the story is predictable.

Historia
When two marines and their corpsman reunite after a decade apart, they find themselves caught up in the mystery of their former squad leader’s disappearance. With little more to go on than a handful of disturbing charcoal sketches and the whispers of a local legend, they plunge into the depths of one of America’s last truly wild places. But the trees themselves begin to whisper dark secrets. Secrets of trafficking and violence. Of rotten science and blood. Of something else that lurks in the shadows of the pines—something ancient, savage, and hungry.

The Antagonists is What Stands Out Most in this Story
Revisado: 12-20-24
Humans are the ugliest creatures on this planet, not the beast in the north woods. Even the brotherhood, which includes the sisters who served with us, in bodies this ugly truth even if the only redeeming quality of humanity can be found buried in that brotherhood as well. What you don’t understand about living can be found in this book.

Better than the reviews suggest
Revisado: 12-19-24
If you’re looking for a litrpg story, then this probably will not satisfy that itch; however, it does draw on the gamer vib. Think Ready Player One + Peripheral, and you’ll be closer to this story. The execution/story are fantastic, and the narrators do an excellent job bringing the story to life. This is well worth the credit.

Unnecessary unless you haven’t started the first book
Revisado: 12-10-24
Let me start with this is excellent story telling, and the performance is equally excellent. If you’ve read or listened to the first novel, then there is nothing new in this novella. All of the information was presented or implied in the first book.

Excellent Story and Wonderful Performance
Revisado: 12-05-24
Most first contact stories miss the boat when it comes to the hard science elements. This novel is built on it. Frankly, the science is thoughtfully and thoroughly woven into every aspect of the story, and it’s pertinent to the plot, not the boring world-building slog that I’ve got cluttering up my unfinished tab. The characters are believable and likable and wonderfully rendered by the reader. This is well worth your time.

Well worth your time
Revisado: 12-05-24
This is the second book by Cawdron that I’ve listened to, and I’ve become a huge fan. Both books were/are steeped in reality per se; meaning, this is hard sci-fi at its best. With this one, you’ll need to suspend your disbelief for the time rift/hole in the multiverse, but like his other book, there’s an acceptable logic behind the conflict. Plus, the characters are easy to love. When you’re done with this one, check out his other books. Oh, and the narrators do an excellent job telling the story.

Historia
The human epidermis deterioration virus (HEDV) has obliterated the population. Billions have died worldwide. The lucky few who survived are now faced with rising racial tensions and white supremacist armies determined to eradicate all people of color and anyone who tries to stand in their way, including Scot Jamieson's mostly white community. Left for dead, Scot is rescued by a young black girl, Coby. Together, dodging supremacist armies, they search for an integrated community of survivors to take them in.

What stood out the most: the humanity.
Revisado: 11-11-24
The bond between the protagonist and the little girl was nothing short of beautiful. His need to protect her and her need to help him heal is at the heart of the whole story. This is one of the best apocalyptic stories that I listened to all year—more. The acquisition of this being political is ridiculous. It certainly holds up a mirror that’s hard to look into, but if you’re brave, you’ll find a literary gem on the other side of that mirror. This was well written and an excellent performance and is well worth the credit.

Historia
The year is 1989. America has just invaded Noriega's Panama. And Specialist Bennett's platoon of Cav Scouts are in country… with, frankly, not a whole lot to do. Until a freak rainstorm somehow transports the entire platoon—Humvees, weapons, and all—to another world. A world controlled by a wicked Aztec god. The Land of the Black Sun. In a heartbeat, the Scouts find themselves fighting for their lives against savage beasts, witches, zombies, subhuman tribes seeking sacrifices… and even themselves.
