Nice overview
Revisado: 09-20-20
I enjoyed the overview of fall and added a few new books to my library and wishlist. I wasn't able to find one that was mentioned: the sea in the sky. It wasn't listed in the details either, but I'm hoping it will turn up eventually.

irritating, not gripping
Revisado: 08-10-20
all these reviews, shocked at the unexpected twists... meh. the main character was so irritating i could not feel any sympathy or surprise. i tried to shift to view this as an exploration of what happens when care givers cross boundaries. instead of unexpected, i got trite.
by the end, it felt like an unsuccessful re-telling of Evil Eye, also an Audible original. but Evil Eye was highly entertaining.
also, all those comments about how the last four minutes make it all worth it? NOPE.
at least it was free.

Historia
On Christmas Eve, 1818, in a small Austrian village, a local Catholic priest and a church organist composed a Christmas carol that changed the course of holiday music forever. Exactly two hundred years later, it’s not the holiday season until you’ve heard “Silent Night” in the car, at the store and on TV – all in the same day.
In Jingle Bell Pop, John Seabrook, acclaimed author of The Song Machine, takes us deep inside the holiday music business. We go behind the scenes to meet some of the producers, songwriters and recording artists responsible for the timeless tunes we hear on repeat between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.

what a disappointment!
Revisado: 12-12-18
I thought I was going to hear some of the things that make a holiday hit great. Instead I heard about how nobody knows what makes a holiday hit great. I heard a bunch of songwriters talk about how surprised they were when their song became a hit. at the very end there was a brief discussion of some of the background that goes into various hits, but that was all and it lasted about 10 seconds.

Highly Entertaining Caper
Revisado: 07-21-16
If you could sum up Dark Run in three words, what would they be?
colorful, cyberpunk-in-space (which i'm counting as one word via hyphens!), rolicking
What about Damian Lynch’s performance did you like?
Lynch carries off multiple accents with ease. i never had difficulty remembering which character was speaking. this is quite a feat considering there were 7 crew members who featured throughout, and a wide assortment of supporting characters.
Any additional comments?
i would recommend this to fans of Firefly, The Lies of Locke Lamora, Oceans 11, Leverage, etc... it is fluff and it is just plain fun.

don't call it a comeback
Revisado: 07-02-16
mama said knock you out, and Nemesis Games did just that. i've followed this series from the beginning. i worried after Cibola Burn, which i found to be hugely disappointing. Was this a sign that it was all downhill from now on? not even close.
i wouldn't have expected that completely splitting up the Roci's crew would result in such intense entertainment, but that is exactly what happened. we got to see incredible character development for each of the four. and remarkably, separating the crew really shone a light on the depth and richness of their relationships with each other.
and then there was the actual story. this is my third listen, and it still has me laughing out loud and doing celebratory air punches while walking my filthy beast of a dog. i find myself getting to work a tad late several times, because i just can't get out of the car until the critical moment has passed.
jefferson mays is top notch. his avasarala... and amos! and fred. i couldn't do without any of them, and his narration just brings it to life.
read this. but go back and read books 1-3 first. you can skip book 4 in my opinion. and then brace yourself for the best yet...
