This book included several moments of comedy as well as having a great storyline. I often look forward to listening to another chapter. I also enjoyed the twist introduced during the epilogue.

Slightly confused
Revisado: 03-07-25
So I liked the performance of the narrator and the characters portrayed in the story, But the leading lady (Sable) is also featured in another book by this author, being attracted to the brother of the leading man in this story (Ray-Mon). I read that book 1st and thought this book was a continuation only to find it was not even though the characters were repeated. There is a confusion there. That was a dislike for me.

A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it’s kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. How well do you know your family? Your social class? Your race? Sensitive "Spoon" LeVay and his brother "Flip" see their weekend at the family home on Martha's Vineyard as a perfect opportunity to introduce their girlfriends to their upper class African American parents. Instead they stumble into a domestic powder keg that exposes secrets of prejudice, hypocrisy, and adultery. This fantastic new play comes from the pen of one of the country's most provocative new playwrights!

Attention Grabber
Revisado: 04-11-21
I enjoyed the audible version of this play from beginning to end. The characters were performed very well. After viewing highlights of the actual play on YouTube, I noticed that only some of the performers in the play actually matched the characters in the audio version of this story(in my opinion). The story line was great in bringing to focus so many issues that are part of the life of todays AA families. The performers for the audio version have brought a rich, vibrant story to the listener. This audio version is well worth your time sin the writer and performance did not disappoint. I would love to hear feedback from other listeners on the audible version of this story.

Mazy Dobbs conducts her investigations with a thread honesty and Integrity which stood out to me throughout this novel... she does not alway share her plan for getting to the truth but the story is written well enough to keep the reader intrigued...This writer displays a great deal of knowledge about the WWII era and how life of locals in Europe was affected after that

They will celebrate their good fortune by racing motorcars they beg, borrow, or own from Paris to Nice. In November 1919 the officers all meet as planned, and though their motorcars are not designed for racing, they set out for Nice. But a serious mishap mars the reunion.

INTRIGUING
Revisado: 12-30-17
If you could sum up Racing the Devil in three words, what would they be?
Intriguing, bewitching, and riveting
What other book might you compare Racing the Devil to and why?
I would compare this book with "The Price" by Joan Johnston, because of the level of story telling, and intelligence, and the quality of Investigative skills presented in this book.
Which character – as performed by Simon Prebble – was your favorite?
Inspector Rutledge is the best character in the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My interest was peeked when I realized the unique style Insp. Rutledge used to get to the truth
Any additional comments?
The story was slow in the beginning but well written to ensure the reader saw the picture as it was painted by the narrator.

Historia
Corporate attorney Hannah DuPont-Lowell always pictured herself returning to New Orleans to retire - just not yet. But after her Manhattan company abruptly lays off its staff, there's no better place to figure out a next move than the porch of her plantation-style home. Nestled in the stunning Garden District, the DuPont House has been in Hannah's family for two centuries. With its 18 rooms and two guesthouses, it's far more home than widowed Hannah needs. Still, it could make a wonderful inn, especially if she can convince her friends and former coworkers to join in the venture.

New Life Starts with Allowing yourself to Trust
Revisado: 05-29-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Inheritance to be better than the print version?
Well I think it would be helpful to have the male characters narrated by male readers. Using one narrator can confuse the listener as to who is speaking at the moment since the narrator sometimes forget to change their voice levels and tones to match the character they are narrating for at the moment.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Inheritance?
The moment most memorable for me was when Hanna Dupont Lowel was introduced to the cousin of Senjin (the Chef - Ustus). Senjin seemed to be jealous of the attention Hanna received from the Ustus.
Which character – as performed by Simi Howe – was your favorite?
Tonya and Hanna seemed to be the most level headed among the group of the women in the story
Who was the most memorable character of The Inheritance and why?
Hanna - I liked her goal of opening a B&B with the family estate. Her train of thought was very productive, and business driven.
Any additional comments?
Hanna's choice to distrust Senjin without listening to his explanation was very immature on her part. If she had put herself in his place I think she would have reacted differently.

Beware of the the Sociopaths In your life
Revisado: 01-22-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. People need to learn from the characters in this book
What other book might you compare Matters of the Heart to and why?
No sure yet... This is the first time I have read a book with this type of mental manipulation in it.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene in this book was when the Leading female character stood firm and rebuffed the threats and insults thrown at her as attempts to convince her to share her bank account.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, the story line was very intriguing and revealing. There were so many "eye-opening" incidents in this story, which caused me to keep listening in anticipation of the next action coming from each character.
Any additional comments?
This book through me for a loop...I didn't read the description of the story-line prior to listening to the book so the story kept revealing surprises for the listener, which gave me much to look forward to.
