Very Enjoyable Reimaging

The plot while similar in many aspects did diverge greatly from the original story. I enjoy very much that the beginning of the book opened to the event that changed the plot/timeline that sent us into a different Pride & Prejudice multiverse

6th dimension tentacle rapists?

Really? The first 30 mins of "plot" goes like this: "creepy dude stares at chick. Chick is offended. Dude leaves. Chick suddenly no longer feels safe and runs. Creepy dude jumps out of alley with a "come with me if you want to live!" Chick is like, "cool!" 6th dimension tentacle monsters try to get up chick's skirt while dude whacks at 'em with his interdimensional axe. Sooooo, chick chooses dude's interdimensional junk as preferable to interdimensional tentacles? .... I just can't....

Also, it's read in first person by a man and eww and did I mention I just can't even with you right now?

Returned after giving it a full 30 mins to try to redeem itself. That was 29 mins too long.

Sweet, Kind. Lovable. My favorite of the series!

This is my favorite book of the entire series but it's hard to put my finger on why...

It doesn't pack any major surprises - you know the history of all 4 parish orphans at this point. While the heroine does have some interesting traits, her backstory is somewhat implausible and this is the second protagonist of the series who serves as a begrudgingly docile lady's companion scrimping and saving for the day of her liberation. The HEA is guaranteed and the plot is pretty formulaic... None of these observations recommend this book so highly, so why do I give it 5 out of 5?

IT'S JUST SO DARN HEARTWARMING!!! The protagonists are sweet and their attraction to each other is natural. There is far less over-the-top angst in this final installment as well. What angst is present, is just so much easier to relate to. Being let down by your family who are supposed to have your back. Lacking self-confidence. That sort of thing. I guess I identified more with the characters and I just found the path to their HEA that much more rewarding and enjoyable.

PS - I have read EVERYTHING written by Mimi Matthews as of July 2020 and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL OF HER WORK. So enjoyable and you don't have to worry about it getting too steamy if others might hear what you're listening to. :D

Woah guys. The fervor with which the narrator voices those scenes. So many uncomfortable laughs and fast forwarding. Not my cup of tea!

Surprisingly sweet. And a couple that openly talks about what’s troubling them and addressed the misunderstanding without wallowing in misery? What a novel concept .
