A Quick Fun Listen
Revisado: 07-26-18
Yeah, so I wasn't a fan of Micah at first. He really comes off as judgmental and intolerant. But as the story went on and I learned more about him I came to understand his attitude....a little.
Now Queen/Quentin I adored from the beginning. He was caring and thoughtful and sassy.
Queen's line - " Funny how we shape our lives either in concert or opposition to our blood kin." I felt summed up the whole book and couldn't be truer.
This is a quick listen and the narrator has fun with the character voices and accents.

This book is H.O.T.
Revisado: 07-26-18
WHEW.....this book is H. O. T. HOT!Daddy Quinn takes Eli in hand and there is chemistry jumping of the pages right from the beginning.
We met Eli in the first book and for me he stole every scene he was in, so I was excited to read his book. He comes off as flighty but there is so much more to Eli then what he shows. He has a strength at his core from being on the streets from a young age and has walls built high and tight.
Quinn is physically attracted to Eli but he thinks he is a brat and a tease. Who better to take to the christening of his Godchild? The Godchild that just happens to belong to your ex and the woman he cheated on you with! What starts out as a joke quickly becomes so much more. But is it too much too fast?
The sex between Quinn and Eli is scorching and fun to read, but the connection they have outside the bedroom was an even better listen for me. Chet Daniel is back narrating and he does a wonderful job with the characters. His telling of the relationship kicked the story up a notch for me. I am quickly becoming a fan of Mr. Daniel.

PI Jackson Rivers grew up on the mean streets of Del Paso Heights and he doesn't trust cops, even though he was one. When the man he thinks of as his brother is accused of killing a police officer in an obviously doctored crime, Jackson will move heaven and earth to keep Kaden and his family safe.

Any additional comments?
This book starts at full throttle and seriously never lets up.
Jackson and Ellery are living together while Jackson's place is still being fixed up and to say things are tense would be an understatement. Ellery would like to make this a permanent arrangement but of course Jackson is fighting it for all the wrong reasons.
Jackson Rivers is probably one of the most stubborn characters I have read and I equally want to slap him upside the head and give him a hug. But is also why I really enjoy these books.
I'm also a fan of books that not only have strong MC's, but have great fully fleshed out secondary characters as well. Jackson's and Ellery's extended families add so much to the story, not only for amusement but also realism.
Greg Tremblay once again does a great job of adding life and depth to the words that Lane has put down on paper. He does a fantastic job of conveying everything that the MC's are feeling and thinking through his tone and delivery.

Talon Valdez knew when he transformed into an enhanced human, his life and his dreams were finished. Reviled, mistrusted, and often locked away, the enhanced were viewed as monsters, despised by the public, and never trusted to serve in the military or any law enforcement agency. Years later he gets a chance to set up a task force of enhanced to serve in the FBI, but with one proviso: each enhanced must partner with a regular human.

Any additional comments?
Intriguing start to a new series and definitely left me wanting more. In the world that Ms. Sue has created there is a new species of humans....enhanced with abilities that normal humans don't have, and not trusted by even their own families.
Finn Mayer just wants out of his small hometown and away from his mother and brother. He has been working at chance with the FBI but knows it's a long shot. When he gets a call for an opportunity with a new team filled with enhanced humans he knows this may be his only way in. He has four weeks and everything working against him.
Talon is an enhanced human with the ability to slow or stop human organs. And even coming from a prominent family he knows he will never have a normal life. Until the FBI decides to create a team of enhanced and Talon is tapped as the team leader. The only draw back is they have to work with non-enhanced humans as well.
This story line is fast paced with so much happening on both sides. It's politically morally charged. Then you throw the romance in there and that just pushes it over the edge to non stop action.
Nick J. Russo's narration does a great job at bringing these men to life and pacing the story to heighten the drama to it's maximum level. They story is strong on its own but Russo adds life to it.
I am excited to see how this world develops and want to know more about how the enhanced came to be.

Historia
Confident businessman Joel Rhodes sees the small California town of Lavender Shores as nothing more than a business opportunity and a final stepping stone to the position he's been working toward his entire life. It was supposed to be just one night in town to close the deal, and sleeping with one of the local men, no matter how gorgeous, meant nothing more than a few hours of fun. Andrew Kelly is perfectly content with the life he has in his hometown. So much so that the only thing missing is someone to share it with.

Wonderful Audio
Revisado: 01-18-18
Any additional comments?
Add Lavender Shores to the list of fictional towns, alongside Cattle Valley and Petal, GA, that I wish were real places I could live in.
I am hooked on this series not just because of the incredible chemistry between the main characters but because of the extended cast. Andrew's parents and their best friends were some of my favorite scenes to read, especially Andrew's dad. I want to know more about the town and it's people.
For as much as Andrew is content in his small hometown he is also a dreamer. His dream just happens to center around the town and his longing for his picket fence.
Joel needed someone to love him so badly this need jumped off the pages. His thought process made me want to shake him at times and made me mad on Andrews behalf. You can see the train wreck about to happen, but you can't do anything to stop it.
The attraction between the MC's is off the charts from the very beginning and things happen fast, but I didn't mind, because I was so into "them".
Kirt Graves does a wonderful job with the narration, bringing the characters to life and quickly pulling me into the story. His voice is smooth and he keeps the story going at a great pace.
I for one cannot wait to go back to Lavender Shores!

Historia
Retired soldier Richard Davis wants a stable life in a quiet town with a forever man. Richard won't find the right man if he's obsessed with the wrong one, so he walks away from Todd. When a mutual obligation requires Todd to move into Richard's house, he's thrilled at the opportunity to earn a second chance.

Personalities perfectly captured.
Revisado: 01-17-18
Any additional comments?
Todd is young, youngest by several years in his family and young in actions. He just needs a little direction in his life and he thinks he finds that with much older Richard. And then Richard dumps he and won't speak to him about anything.
Richard is ready to settle down and he is incredibly attracted to Todd but he just can't handle sharing, so he has to let him go.
While this book is very well written I just did not connect to the MC's, especially Richard. I felt the way that he treated Todd was unfair, he never came right out and told him what he wanted, so I was annoyed with him through out the book.
The narration is very good at conveying Todd's confusion and desperation to understand what Richard wanted. I felt that Mr. Robinson brought the authors characters to life and captured their personalities perfectly.

If you could sum up The Imperfection of Swans in three words, what would they be?
Beautiful real, mesmerizing
Any additional comments?
This was an incredibly beautiful, real story. The narration from Kirt Graves brought the story to life and I was mesmerized. Mr Graves does a wonderful job with the pacing and really adds to the structure of the story.
Kevin has a secret that he has been dealing with his whole life. As far as he is concerned he has it under control. When opening a new business and the possibility of a new relationship brings everything to the surface he realizes just how not in control he is.
Casper is finally making his dreams come true, he is opening his own bakery and has fallen for his new business partner. The stress of the business brings to light that not all is right with his partner but Casper isn't going to stop fighting to make all his dreams come true.
The author does a wonderful job of layering in the realities and struggles with the love and family. And the narrator brings you into the story and makes blocking out the real world easy to do. The characters teach us the beauty in the imperfections.
