Historia
When Jake and Emily meet, sparks fly. And not the good kind. Emily just wants to keep the world away. She doesn't want anyone to know all the ways her life is messed up. Going to anger management every Saturday, talking to strangers, was not part of the plan. Jake just wants to keep his family together. He's also messed everything up. Going to anger management is now his best hope for bonding with his six-year-old, Alfie.

Beautiful story addressing real life challenges
Revisado: 07-30-22
Super sweet story that addresses some important real-life issues including autism, drinking, childhood abuse, marriage, family dynamics, and being real with oneself. Only negative is that I had to skip past the chapters with Alfie talking, couldn't stand his voice; that very well may be a me problem. Overall, loved it.

Historia
One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

Such pearls of wisdom!
Revisado: 07-28-22
Aurelius' words are eloquent and straightforward, thought-provoking and wise. Written between AD 161 to 180, his observations stand true today. If we could all act accordingly, the world would be a kinder place.
Definitely buying a hard copy of this one!

Historia
In the summer of 1990, Eddie Vedder left the surf and sun in San Diego to join a group of friends working to put a new band together in the Seattle underground. Within months, they were anything but underground; they’d found their lead singer, and Vedder went on to lead Pearl Jam on a global takeover of ‘90s culture. In this latest edition of Audible’s Words + Music series, Vedder dives deep, reflecting on a life at the intersection of art, sensitivity, and masculinity.

Hail, Hail EV
Revisado: 11-20-21
Hearing these stories - some old, some new - in this format was beautiful and emotional. How could it not be? Ed is a beautiful, emotional, open, purposeful, and humble being. Loved listening to him share the experiences the rest of us have heard, read, experienced or dreamt about. I'm fiercely proud to be a fan.

Historia
Where does a moderately popular internet star who never leaves her house look for potential suitors? Online. Tinder, Bumble, Match.com, OkCupid - I tried them all. My 31-year-old self clicked and swiped her little heart out, leading to more dates than I could count, and more disappointment than I was prepared for. Maybe you can relate. Maybe you know all too well the perils of modern dating.

Wrong performer, wrong cover
Revisado: 06-14-19
Interesting, eye-opening story but not at all what I expected based on the whimsical cover and the description. Likewise, the person who recorded the book was monotone and showed no emotion. It was tough for me to get through the book because of her performance.

Historia
Conventional wisdom holds that same-sex marriage is a purely modern innovation, a concept born of an overtly modern lifestyle that was unheard of in 19th-century America. But as Rachel Hope Cleves demonstrates in this eye-opening book, same-sex marriage is hardly new. Born in 1777, Charity Bryant was raised in Massachusetts. A brilliant and strong-willed woman with a clear attraction for her own sex, Charity found herself banished from her family home at age 20.
